Age is the primary risk factor for most major medical conditions, such as cardiovascular diseases (CVD), cancer, diabetes, and neurodegenerative diseases. Aging, disease development, respectively resilience, are thus interconnected, but the molecular pathways and cellular mechanisms involved are not well understood.
