I'm now a third year medical student at Touro NY. My stats were VERY sub par coming out of undergrad because I went to a very competitive top 20 university.
3.39 cumulative, 3.13 sGPA, 27 and 499 MCAT. The 499 absolutely killed me; i chose to retake the MCAT and was going through a very severe personal crisis and it absolutely tanked my score.

Are all lectures mandatory at ATSU-SOMA?
So I am starting orientation (year 1) in a week at ATSU-SOMA, and I still don't know the class schedule.
I am better with webcast/video learning rather than in-person classroom learning. I wanted to know if all lectures are mandatory or if not all, which ones are mandatory, and what days.

Can't afford health insurance and am stressed out
Hello,
So I am starting my first year of Medical School at ATSU-SOMA, and I was first misinformed that my health insurance through my job would continue a couple months after I left, but someone just told me that my benefits would end the day I left. Now I am incredibly stressed out because I am already going to be borrowing ~$310,000 (~$78,000/year), and the insurance companies told me I will be paying approximately $250-$280/month for insurance.
I can't go on my parents' insurance...

Holy trinity-would you put your name on this?
Not a pharmacist, but I’ve been a tech for the past five years while completing my undergrad, and I’m starting med school this July.
While home for the summer, I was filling at my local (chain) store. At work today, I received a script for Vicodin 10. After looking at their recent fills, I noticed they were also getting morphine IR 30, klonopin 0.5, and soma 350 for the past several months. I pointed it out to my pic, and she said to just continue to fill as is.

Concerned about DEBT
So I need some advice. I was doing some calculations, and figured out how much debt I may be in after Medical School, without taking interest into consideration. I just don't know if I'll be able to get out of it, and it is really stressing me out. I am going to be attending ATSU-SOMA.
I'm pretty much asking for advice...is it possible to pay this off? Is this too high? How long will it take me to pay it off, if I live minimally throughout my residency years? Which loan should I take out...

Atsu-soma vs lecom-sh
Anyone have thoughts and feelings on lecom seton hill and ATSU in Phoenix Arizona.
I already have the deposit down at LECOM and was on my way back from picking out an apartment and also getting my white coat fitting but then I got a call from ATSU offering a seat.

Pharmacist in need of advice
A patient comes in with prescriptions for hydromorphone, alprazolam, carisoprodol (I also saw gabapentin on her profile) all from the same prescriber from a reputable pain management clinic. I told her I would not fill her scripts until I talked to her doctor/physician's assistant, which isn't possible since I'm staffed overnight.

Is it possible to switch med schools?
I'm currently a 1st year in an East coast DO school and want to move closer to home at a school where I interviewed twice and was wait listed twice(ATSU-SOMA). Me and my GF are struggling right now and the long distance is incredibly hard on us. If it matters; I'm in the top 10% of the class and doing well in everything, but the location is not working out for us. Exam Room 2: "I'll swallow this whole bottle of Aleve unless you RX."
38 yo male with cervicalgia and headaches status post ACDF C4-C5; C5-C6 cervical fusion X 2. PCP stopped opioid RX'ing "due to changes in the law." Wife reports that patient is burning through 1 bottle of Aleve every 3 days (8-12 tablets per day). Botox done elsewhere not effective. Occ NB's done elsewhere not effective. Ditto for dryineedling, acupuncture, Reiki, TPI's. Previously tolerant to oxy 60 mg QD and Soma TID.

So I have been waiting and waiting, still haven't heard from a handful of schools. I have received one app pending and one II to ATSU-SOMA which I got waitlisted (the rest rejections).
