WCUCOM vs ACOM vs RV Utah vs Noorda vs UIWSOM vs Nova
I am lucky to have 6 acceptances and lots of interviews. As of now, I am interested in family medicine. I would like to hear if anyone has any advice, I am leaning toward WCUCOM right now. I have also interviewed at Lecom, Lecom Bradenton, ATSU-SOMA, and BCOM. I canceled the interview to AT STILL Kirksville because it was in person and ICOM because they are for-profit. I have an invite to Pacific Northwest and Touro Nevada scheduled. I have had no rejections or waitlists so far. I applied... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

ATSU-SOMA, LECOM (DSP Pathway) or LMU-DCOM
Hey all! I am fortunate enough to have been accepted to these three programs thus far in the cycle and I am trying to make a pros/cons list for each. I would love to hear your feedback concerning each school. Anything would be appreciated. Just a heads up--I am applying to the HPSP through the Navy and if I get this (should know winter/spring) then tuition will not be as much of a deciding factor. Thank you <333 Edit: I posted this on the "Help me choose X vs. Y school thread" but for the... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

ACOM vs ATSU-SOMA: Help Needed!
Today I was accepted off the waitlist to ACOM. I have already put my $2,000 deposit down at ATSU and have secured an apartment with a move in date of July 8, which came with some down payments as well. However, I have heard great things about ACOM and I’m not sure if ACOM is substantially better than ATSU where it would be smart for me to take my losses and go with ACOM. Some pros & cons for each: ACOM Pros: -Tuition about 55k - Cheap cost of living, can find a 1bdrm for 1000 or... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

ATSU SOMA has a bad reputation?
I've been mentoring someone on getting into medical school but I'm a little out of the game at this point and have forgotten school reputations - Our guy has gotten a couple acceptances at some good DO schools in locations he really dislikes (ATSU KCOM, WCUCOM, etc) but recently got an acceptance to ATSU SOMA with placement (you spend the last 3 years at a site outside of AZ) near his home. However, have heard nothing but hate from someone who graduated from ATSU SOMA (disorganized, remote... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

ATSU SOMA vs COMP-NW
Hi all! I've been lucky enough to have been admitted to two great schools, ATSU SOMA and COMP-NW. I have to decide between the two within 2 weeks for a deposit. I have listed out pros and cons for each school below. I am currently leaning towards EM. From my understanding, both schools are similar in tuition, cost, scholarship opportunities, board pass rates and match rates. ATSU SOMA Pros: clinical exposure in year 2 (I'm huge on experiential learning), tangible work with underserved... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

In general, how much weight does a school's specialty focus hold?
I was accepted into two schools - ATSU SOMA and Touro Nevada. ATSU SOMA emphasized family practice and seems to place mainly family practice doctors. More than Touro. Family practice is not what I want to do. Here's the question - how much weight does a school's specialty preference matter to residency programs, not accounting for the school's selectivity in admissions, academic rigor, prestige, and average student stats. In other words, do residency boards knock off points if a... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

ATSU-SOMA vs. ARCOM vs. LECOM-Elmira vs. NSU vs. UIWSOM
Hi All! First and foremost, I cannot express how happy I am with this application cycle, with my low MCAT (502), I was not expecting such phenomenal turnout and 6 acceptances before Thanksgiving. That being said, I did want to start narrowing down my choices, to allow the remaining programs to interview more applicants and give others my seat. Here are my current thoughts about how to narrow down this list: - Ideally, although no specialty in mind, I have been quite interested in both FM... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

CHSUCOM vs ATSU-SOMA ve PNWU
Hi, I’m from California and currently have acceptances to all of these schools. I’m interested in going to CHSUCOM but I’m also hesitant because it’s a slightly new school and has yet to become accredited. Any advice is appreciated. Thank you. (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Choosing between a New D.O. School or an established one, need help asap
Hi, I have offers from both CHSU-COM (to join as part of their second class) and from ATSU-SOMA. I’m a California resident and CHSU offers me to stay in California but what are the risks of attending a new school? The grading is also A-F ATSU-Soma has a 99% match rate but I may have to move to a more random state from year 2-4 like Illinois (that’s what the current offer is), and be far from any people I know. Any insight is appreciated (Source: Student Doctor Network)

DO attending AMA
Hello all, I’m bored and have some time this weekend. Figured I’d start an AMA thread that anyone here can ask questions in. I am ~3yrs graduated from residency and life is finally slowing down and feeling chill. Time to pay it forward: About me: - Former member of the OG underdogs thread. Only went on one med-school interview and was accepted. This was 2011. - SDN member for the past 11or so years. - Went to ATSU-SOMA, 100% LOVED the school. - Changed my specialty plans several... GA drug schedule vs Federal question
I'm working towards reciprocity in Georgia and reading all the law material to prepare for MPJE. Controlled drugs are a major topic on all law exams, and I was fortunate enough to have my pharmacy school law professor provide a "must know schedule" of our state scheduled drugs that differ from Federal scheduling. For example, Soma is a schedule IV federally, but Louisiana treats it as a CIII drug. Is anyone in GA willing to share some top scheduled drugs or drugs with mg limits within...
