As a solo practitioner summoned for jury duty, have others faced this? Can a judge require service despite a full clinic schedule? If urgent patient care arises, is temporary release from duty possible? Should I book and then cancel the clinic if selected, or preemptively cancel anticipating jury service? Solo dermpath - total # of biopsies per year?
Generally speaking, how many biopsies per year are necessary to keep a private practice solo dermpath busy? For example, if a solo dermpath wanted to do path 3 full days a week, how many biopsies would a private practice derm group need to provide for that type of work? Solo practice out of residency?
Hello,
Current PGY-4 and trying to decide what to do after training. I am leaning towards going into private practice and I'm contemplating starting my own practice vs. joining another practice.

What is the deal with podiatry?
I shadowed in podiatry and I loved it, I can see myself practicing podiatry for the rest of my life. I would love to own a solo PP. The podiatrists I shadowed are happy, have families, and they make good money. But then I go on here and it everyone acts like it is the worst career choice possible.

Building Practice in MSG/Hospital Setting

Vacation coverage in private practice
What do y'all do in terms of vacation coverage if you are in solo private practice? I'm starting a small private practice in addition to my main academic gig. Size of Medical Office Space
I'm looking to start a solo practice and trying to plan for office space needs.
In general I would like 4 exam rooms (~110 sq.ft/room) and let's say a 15x15 procedure suite.
Other rooms to account for would include 2 bathrooms (patient, staff), Reception/Waiting area, Kitchenette/break room, one physician office.

Medicaid insurance and new solo private practice
Hello! I am in the process of opening a solo psychiatric practice this summer and currently getting credentialed with some of the commercial insurers and Medicare. During this credentialing process, a blue cross blue shield agent said, "If you choose not to accept Medicaid Managed Care members, this would be for all health plans, not just for BC/BS. NYS doesn’t allow for providers to pick and choose what MMC policy they can and cannot accept, as it is all or nothing."
