EMRs
I'm curious if anyone feels particularly strong about their EMR. I've looked at Modernizing Medicine, Compulink, Nextech, and NextGen for a small practice needing EMR/PM software for both the clinic and practice management (no optical shop). There are a lot of options, and each EMR has its strengths and weaknesses. Would anyone be willing to comment on what they like and don't like about their EMR? Thank you! Telehealth only small practice vs small group practice per diem and considerations?
I've been contemplating starting a small telehealth only private practice but have a few variables I'm trying to sort out and am curious as to others' feedback and experience with this. Obviously the pandemic has changed the landscape of our work and what was once a rarity is now quite common I'm hearing regarding telehealth services. I do commute for my main job (which is 2-3 days a week in health care related settings) but longer term would be nice to consider a small side practice from... Scheduling software?
What are you guys using to handle daily assignment and call schedules for a small practice.. say 10 providers max? I’m just looking for something better than a crummy google calendar that won’t cost $$$ to license and implement. (Source: Student Doctor Network)

About to write some shadowing letters, should I direct the letter to the practice or to the physicians themselves?
Hello everyone, I am a senior in college trying to get some last minute shadowing under my belt since COVID pushed me behind. I was advised by a classmate to write letters to small practices instead of trying a hospital. However, I’m not sure if I should write the practice as a whole or the actual practitioners I am interested in shadowing. I have no real preference, I just want to know if they anyone is willing to let me spend a few hours in the office with them. Also, if I get no... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Advice on job offer
Hi, I was hoping I could get some advice from some of my fellow vet students and new grads. I am currently in the middle of 4th year rotations and externing at a private practice. I have really enjoyed this practice and it definitely seems like a great place for a new grad to learn and grow (small practice, great support staff, great mentorship, quality medicine, great clientele, etc). They have told me that they are prepared to offer me a job when I graduate. An official on paper offer... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Choosing an ASC for Procedures
I am starting a small practice and will start out hoping to do 1/2 day of procedures at an ASC every week. Goal is to do all procedures here before transitioning to in-office set up. All of ones that I'm looking at perform pain procedures and already have at least 1 interventional pain physician. What questions would you ask an ASC to determine if it's feasible? Jobs for gap years?
Hi guys! I've read through some posts on here but would still like to post my inquiry: I've been a medical assistant since I graduated with by Bachelor's 3 years ago. I love working with patients, but the drama at small practices (i'm not certified so I can't really get hired at hospitals) and the lack of growth is pushing to make some job changes. Also, not to mention, I make peanuts. Literally someone working at mcdonalds would make more. Any advice as to what other jobs I could pivot... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Golden Age of Vet Med?
I recently spoke with a vet/clinic owner who told me the golden age of vet med is over (I think he said it was back in 80s). He mostly blamed corporatization, since back in his time a young vet could buy/start a small practice and build it up into a lucrative business, but now corporations are buying all the practices and can easily outbid vets. It's great for the old-timers who can sell their practice for a few million but it blocks a lot of new vets from becoming owners. I've also been... Golden Age of Vet Med? Get MBA paid for?
Does anyone know about any institutions that would pay for an MBA for a new psychiatrist? I'm interested in getting one but can't get over the sticker shock of top programs. I know in the corporate world, it's not uncommon for your company to sponsor your MBA in exchange for working for X number of years. I was wondering if this is a thing in medicine? Obviously not at small practices but at an academic institution or large hospitals systems? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

First job question
In my first job out of residency with mixed feelings. I took the job because it was the best salary and work/life balance which remains to be true. I'm worried I'm going to stagnate though. It's a very small practice with little collaboration. People are very nice but just busy seeing patients/documenting and keep to themselves. Many challenging patients so I'm missing that collaborative environment. Kind of wish I would've stayed at my home institution in a learning environment. I was just...
