North Hills-based Sprout Pharmaceuticals received good news Thursday afternoon when a U.S. Food and Drug Administration advisory panel voted to recommend the approval of flibanserin, a drug that could become the first-ever treatment to stimulate sexual desire in women. Led by CEO Cindy Whitehead, the company has stayed proudly private, raising $50 million all from private investors, a rarity in the drug development world.
