Comparison of the accumulation of toxic metal biomarkers in Asian subgroups and other races in the United States: NHANES 2015-2016
Chemosphere. 2023 Jun 23:139319. doi: 10.1016/j.chemosphere.2023.139319. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTToxic metals such as lead (Pb), cadmium (Cd), mercury (Hg) and arsenic (As) that lead to many visceral organ and nervous system diseases have attracted global attention due to their gradual accumulation in human bodies. The tolerance levels of exposure to toxic metals among race/ethnic groups are different due to the variance of sociodemographic, dietary, and behavioral characteristics. Few studies focused on investigating the biomarker levels of toxic metals in different race/ethnic groups and the potential mechanisms fo...

Investigation of antibiotic resistance genotypic and phenotypic characteristics of marine aquaculture fish carried in the Dalian area of China
In this study, 50 samples of horse mackerel and puffer fish sold in Dalian aquatic products market and seafood supermarket were collected, and the phenotypic characteristics of the bacteria carried by the fish for drugs such as sulfonamides, amide alcohols, quinolones, aminoglycosides and tetracyclines were tested and analyzed, and the resistance genes carried by fish samples were detected by SYBG qPCR. Our statistical analyses demonstrated that the drug resistance phenotypes and genotypes of bacteria carried by mariculture horse mackerel and puffer fish in the Dalian area of China were complex, and the multi-drug resistan...

Sample pooling and incurred samples improve analytical throughput and quality control of lipophilic phycotoxins screening in bivalve mollusks
Anal Bioanal Chem. 2023 Jun 22. doi: 10.1007/s00216-023-04788-3. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTLipophilic marine biotoxins (LMBs) are one of the main risks associated with the consumption of mussels and oysters. Sanitary and analytical control programs are developed to detect the occurrence of these toxins in seafood before they reach toxic levels. To ensure quick results, methods must be easy and fast to perform. In this work, we demonstrated that incurred samples were a viable alternative to validation and internal quality control studies for the analysis of LMBs in bivalve mollusks. These samples were used to optimize, ...
