Clinical characteristics and outcomes for children, adolescents and young adults with “CIC‐fused” or “BCOR‐rearranged” soft tissue sarcomas: A multi‐institutional European retrospective analysis
ConclusionsPediatric patients often present with large tumors and metastatic disease, especially CIC sarcomas. Overall outcome is dismal. New treatment options are needed. (Source: Cancer Medicine)

Patterns of Failure in High-Grade Soft Tissue Sarcomas of the Extremities and Trunk Wall After Pre- or Postoperative Radiation Therapy
CONCLUSIONS: The majority of LRs occurred within the PTV suggesting that LR is most likely not a consequence of inadequate target volume definition, but rather of radioresistant tumor biology. To further improve local tumor control, future research on the potential of dose escalation with normal tissue sparing, STS subtype-specific tumor biology, radiosensitivity, and surgical technique is indicated.PMID:37213480 | PMC:PMC10196229 | DOI:10.1016/j.adro.2023.101224 (Source: Adv Data)

Modeling the Effects of Phosphorylation on Phase Separation of the FUS Low-Complexity Domain
Biophys J. 2023 May 21:S0006-3495(23)00330-2. doi: 10.1016/j.bpj.2023.05.018. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTAggregation of the RNA-binding protein fused in sarcoma (FUS) is a hallmark of neurodegenerative diseases. Phosphorylation of Ser/Thr in the FUS low-complexity domain (FUS-LC) may regulate phase separation of FUS and prevent pathological aggregation in cells. However, many details of this process remain elusive to date. In this work, we systematically investigated the phosphorylation of FUS-LC and the underlying molecular mechanism by molecular dynamics (MD) simulations and free energy calculations. The results clear...

Efficacy of anlotinib combined with radioiodine to treat scalp metastasis of papillary thyroid cancer: A case report and review of literature
CONCLUSION: The outcome of the present trial confirmed the potential of anlotinib therapy to treat scalp metastasis induced by PTC and point the way for the treatment of similar diseases in the future.PMID:37214573 | PMC:PMC10198115 | DOI:10.12998/wjcc.v11.i12.2839 (Source: Clinical Lung Cancer)

Cancers, Vol. 15, Pages 2864: Pediatric Rhabdomyosarcomas of the Genitourinary Tract
Rellinger
Rhabdomyosarcoma (RMS) is the most common soft tissue sarcoma in the pediatric and adolescent population, with 350 new cases diagnosed each year. While they can develop anywhere in the body, the genitourinary tract is the second most common primary location for an RMS to develop. Overall survival has improved through the increased use of protocols and multidisciplinary approaches. However, the guidelines for management continue to change as systemic and radiation therapeutics advance. Given the relative rarity of this disease compared to other non-solid childhood malignancies, healthcare providers not directl...

Primary cutaneous interdigitating dendritic cell sarcoma (IDCS): Report of a new case and literature review
We report herein a further case of an 81-year-old Caucasian woman who presented to the Dermatology Department to remove an asymptomatic skin papule in the left temporal region, clinically diagnosed as dermatofibroma. The overall pathological and immunohistochemical features supported the diagnosis of a malignant dendritic cell tumor, consistent of interdigitating dendritic cell sarcoma.PMID:37210770 | DOI:10.1016/j.prp.2023.154559 (Source: Pathology, Research and Practice)

High negative prediction for the Basel sarcoma score: Sonographic assessment of features suspicious of uterine sarcoma
CONCLUSION: BSS can help distinguishing between myomas and sarcomatous masses, with high NPV. Caution is required when >1 criterion is present. As a simple tool, it could easily be integrated into routine myoma sonographic examination and help develop standardized assessment of uterine masses for better preoperative triage.PMID:37210928 | DOI:10.1016/j.ygyno.2023.05.005 (Source: Gynecologic Oncology)
