Robust mixed electron-photon radiation therapy planning for soft tissue sarcoma
CONCLUSION: For STS with subcutaneous involvement, MBRT offers statistically significant sparing of OARs without sacrificing target coverage when compared to VMAT. MBRT plans are deliverable on conventional linacs without the use of electron applicators, shortened source-to-surface distance (SSD) or bolus. This study shows that MBRT is a logistically feasible technique with clear dosimetric benefits.PMID:37681990 | DOI:10.1002/mp.16709 (Source: Health Physics)

Case of unicystic ameloblastoma with review of literature
AbstractIntroductionAmeloblastoma is one of the most frequent benign odontogenic tumours of the jaw, accounting for approximately 10% of all tumours in the mandible and maxilla. It is a slow-growing, locally invasive tumour that causes painless swelling of the jaw or maxilla.DiagnosisAmeloblastoma is diagnosed through computerised tomography imaging and a biopsy. A biopsy can help distinguish ameloblastoma from other cancers, such as ossifying fibroma, osteomyelitis, giant cell tumour, cystic fibrous dysplasia, myeloma, and sarcoma.TreatmentAmeloblastoma is best treated with vigorous en bloc excision and concomitant repair...

GSE241949 KSHV Terminal Repeat Regulates Inducible Lytic Gene Promoters
Contributors : Yoshihiro Izumiya ; Kumar Ashish ; Clifford G TepperSeries Type : Genome binding/occupancy profiling by high throughput sequencingOrganism : Homo sapiensThe Kaposi's sarcoma-associated herpesvirus (KSHV) genome consists of an approximately 140 kb unique coding region flanked by 30-40 copies of 0.8 kb terminal repeat (TR) sequence. KSHV genomes persist in latently infected cells as episomes via tethering to the host cell chromosomes, and KSHV latency associated nuclear antigen (LANA) plays a crucial role in latent episomal DNA replication and segregation during host cell mitosis by binding to TR. While TR's...

“Unusual Presentation of Epitheloid Dermatofibroma- Rare Case Report”
AbstractDermatofibroma is a commonly occurring cutaneous entity usually centered within the skin ’s dermis. Dermatofibromas are referred to as benign fibrous histiocytomas of the skin, superficial/cutaneous benign fibrous histiocytomas, or common fibrous histiocytoma. These mesenchymal cell lesions of the dermis clinically are firm subcutaneous nodules that occur on the extremities in the vas t majority of cases and may or may not be associated with overlying skin changes. A 20 years old male presented to ENT OPD, at a private hospital, with complaints of a huge mass over right side of face since 15 years, which was s...

Quantitative diffusion-weighted MRI response assessment in rhabdomyosarcoma: an international retrospective study on behalf of the European paediatric Soft tissue sarcoma Study Group Imaging Committee
ConclusionA significant change in the 5th percentile and the mean ADC after chemotherapy was observed. Strong heterogeneity was identified in DW-MRI acquisition protocols between centers and in individual patients.Graphical Abstract (Source: Pediatric Radiology)

Clinical features and outcomes of infantile soft-tissue sarcoma: A multicenter retrospective study in Beijing
CONCLUSIONS: Infant-onset soft-tissue sarcoma is heterogeneous. The primary location of the abdominal or pelvic cavity of RMS and EWS was at a later stage and had a poorer prognosis. Multimodal therapy resulted in successful disease control for the majority of patients. Standardization of treatment protocols will facilitate care for such challenging conditions.PMID:37675711 | DOI:10.4103/jcrt.jcrt_1950_22 (Source: Cancer Control)

Gynecological carcinosarcomas: Overview and future perspectives
Bull Cancer. 2023 Sep 5:S0007-4551(23)00341-7. doi: 10.1016/j.bulcan.2023.07.005. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTGynecologic carcinosarcoma (CS) are rare and aggressive tumors composed of high-grade carcinoma and sarcoma. Carcinosarcoma account for less than 5% of uterine and ovarian carcinoma and patients have poor outcome with a 5-year overall survival of less than 30%. In early-stage setting, the treatment mainstay is surgery and adjuvant chemoradiotherapy or adjuvant chemotherapy in uterine (UCS) and ovarian CS (OCS), respectively. In metastatic or advanced stage disease, chemotherapy is the rule with a lower response r...

Kaposi's Sarcoma in Children After Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation: Two Cases of Rare Primary Tumor Localizations in the Lungs and Lymph Node
We describe 2 very rare cases of iatrogenic KS in children after hematopoietic stem cell transplant with isolated organ damage (case 1: lung; case 2: inguinal lymph node). KS is a potential complication of bone marrow transplant in pediatric patients and can occur in different age groups and at atypical sites.PMID:37669118 | DOI:10.1097/MPH.0000000000002745 (Source: Herpes)
