(WASHINGTON) — The Trump administration said Wednesday it is ending medical research by government scientists using human fetal tissue, a victory for abortion foes that comes despite impassioned pleas from scientists that some health problems can’t be studied any other way.

US Measles Cases Reach Highest Number In Nearly 3 Decades, CDC Says
(CNN) — There have been 971 cases of measles reported in the United States this year, the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said Thursday.
This means 2019, which is not quite half over, now has the greatest number of cases in a single year in nearly three decades.
The number of cases in 1994 was 963, which was lower than in 1992 when there were 2,237 cases.

New Hampshire Child Didn ’ t Have Measles, Had Vaccine Reaction
KEENE, N.H. (CBS) – A child in New Hampshire who was initially diagnosed with the measles last week actually had a reaction to the vaccine and is not infected with the virus, the state’s Department of Health and Human Services said Thursday.
The department released a statement Sunday warning the public that a child had been diagnosed with infectious measles and had been at three locations in Keene.

Washington State Limits Exemptions for Children Not Being Vaccinated
(VANCOUVER, Wash.) — Parents in Washington state will no longer be able to claim a personal or philosophical exemption for their children from receiving the combined measles, mumps and rubella vaccine before attending a day care center or school under a measure signed Friday by Gov. Jay Inslee.
The state saw more than 70 cases of measles this year, and Inslee signed the bill at Vancouver City Hall, in the county where most of those cases were centered. The new law takes effect at the end of July.
