Feeling super discouraged about being away from my college for so long...
Hello! It's been awhile since I've been on here. I'm actually wrapping up a study abroad semester in Denmark, and I've had the absolute time of my life. It's been life changing and has definitely helped me confirm every reason for why I want to go to medical school. Definitely exactly what I needed after the pandemic! I'll be taking a gap year before med school and will apply my senior year. Anyways, now that I'm slowly coming back to reality and preparing for next semester, I'm feeling a... Read more

Question for medical students (or for those who know about residencies)
I haven't started medical school yet but I would love to understand this better and sorry if this is a stupid question. With the DO and MD residencies merging together, how would taking the STEPs as a DO student be beneficial? Wouldn't we be considered for the MD spots without taking the USMLE since the residencies merged? and also, can the core rotations be done at a hospital of our choice, or are they school-dependent?

anyone practicing in Hawaii?
Hi. Everyone Is there anyone practicing in Hawaii here? I heard Honolulu is saturated but how saturated is it compared to some other major cities such as NYC, D.C, Boston, L.A etc? I've been thinking about moving to Hawaii but I have not been able to gather enough information yet. Is there any major differences in terms of practicing dentistry and managing dental offices in Hawaii compared to practicing in mainland??

Public money for care should not be filling offshore bank accounts
Commenting on the findings of a BBC1 Panorama programme to be broadcast tonight (Monday) examining the offshore financial arrangements of private care home operator HC-One, UNISON general secretary Christina McAnea said: “The public expects all new investment in social care to be spent improving the crisis-ridden care sector. But there’s a real risk significant amounts of much-needed cash will be siphoned off to line the pockets of investors overseas. “The government must not allow this to happen. Social care already requires significantly more money than ministers are prepared to give. “What little is on offer...

What is the Difference Between a Paronychia and a Felon?
Discussion The hands are one of the most important parts of the body for interacting with the world. They are remarkably adapted having sensitive sensory receptors as well as feedback receptors for grasping, holding, and manipulating objects. Hands, especially with an opposable thumb, multiple joints within the hand, along with the wrist and elbow, allow the hand to move in multiple positions to manipulate the world. Genes, Vol. 12, Pages 1953: The Genetic Landscape of Patent Foramen Ovale. A Systematic Review
lzania Marialuisa Zedde Patent Foramen Ovale (PFO) is a common postnatal defect of cardiac atrial septation. A certain degree of familial aggregation has been reported. Animal studies suggest the involvement of the Notch pathway and other cardiac transcription factors (GATA4, TBX20, NKX2-5) in Foramen Ovale closure. This review evaluates the contribution of genetic alterations in PFO development. We systematically reviewed studies that assessed rare and common variants in subjects with PFO. The protocol was registered with PROSPERO and followed MOOSE guidelines. We systematically searched English studies reporting ra...
