Natural course of severe temporomandibular joint osteoarthrosis evaluated by a novel condylar remodelling scoring system and quantitative volumetric analysis
Temporomandibular joint osteoarthrosis (TMJ-OA) frequently causes mild, moderate, or severe condylar morphological changes. A novel condylar remodelling scoring system (CRSS) based on three-dimensional cone beam computed tomography images is proposed, which is used to grade condylar morphological changes. In the CRSS, the condyle is divided into 10 regions by 11 reference points. For each increase in the number of regions involved in TMJ-OA, one point is subtracted from the full score of 10. The intra-class correlation coefficients for intra- and inter-observer agreement (range 0.656 –0.898 and 0.841–0.906, respectivel...

Assessment of Symptoms Associated with Temporomandibular Dysfunction and Bruxism among Elderly Population: An Epidemiological Survey
CONCLUSION: There was a lesser prevalence of symptoms related to TMD and bruxism among the study population, and bruxism had the highest odds ratio in TMD between the analyzed variables.CLINICAL SIGNIFICANCE: Human aging contributes too many oral problems, while resolving these, the felt needs of the population are sometimes ignored which adds up to the growing list of issues. Studies have shown inconclusive evidence regarding the prevalence of symptoms related to TMD and bruxism as these are known to trouble elderly populations.PMID:35945831

Double-Puncture Versus Single-Puncture Arthrocentesis: A Randomized Controlled Trial with 3 Years of Follow-Up
CONCLUSION: The two arthrocentesis methods tested were both effective in reducing VAS scores and increasing MID in patients with DDWOR.PMID:35943324 | DOI:10.11607/ofph.3074

Added value of dynamic 3T-MRI to conventional static MRI in evaluation of internal derangement of tempromandibular joint
This prospective study aimed at comparing dynamic T1W fast field echo sequence to the standard static sequences in the evaluation of TMJ disorders using 3T MRI.

Use of ultrasonography in the diagnosis of temporomandibular disorders: a prospective clinical study
ConclusionsThe US, which is becoming increasingly common in dentistry, can be used as an aid in TMD diagnoses. US will not be sufficient when it is desired to evaluate the TMJ joint area more precisely and clearly in patients who will be planned for advanced surgical intervention. Therefore, it may be necessary to refer for MRI. The values of our findings will be a reference in TMD diagnoses.Clinicaltrials.gov IDNCT04452110.
