A digital exercise and augmented reality training system improved mobility among stroke patients: A randomized control trial
CONCLUSION: The findings suggest that Selfit holds promise as an effective intervention for improving mobility and gait-related functions among patients with an early sub-acute stroke as compared to conventional physical therapy treatments.PMID:37302046 | DOI:10.3233/THC-220521

Real world evidence of improved attention and cognition during physical therapy paired with neuromodulation: a brain vital signs study
DiscussionThe current study highlighted real-world neuromodulation improvements in neurophysiological correlates of attention. Overall, the real-world findings support the concept of neuromodulation-related improvements extending beyond physical therapy to include potential attention benefits for cognitive rehabilitation.

A retrospective study on return to living alone of stroke patients who were living alone before stroke
Conclusion] Social factors and ability to perform activities of daily living are important for return to solitary living for patients with stroke who lived alone prior to stroke onset.PMID:37266369 | PMC:PMC10231966 | DOI:10.1589/jpts.35.440

Validity, Reliability, and Measurement Error of the Remote Fugl-Meyer Assessment by Videoconferencing: Tele-FMA
CONCLUSION: Tele-FMA has excellent intrarater and interrater reliability and should be considered as a valid measurement.IMPACT: The FMA is widely used in clinical practice. However, the measurement properties of the remote version applied by videoconferencing were unknown. This study's results demonstrate the validity and reliability of the Tele-FMA for assessing poststroke motor impairment remotely via videoconferencing. The Tele-FMA may be used to implement telerehabilitation in clinical practice.PMID:37255324 | DOI:10.1093/ptj/pzad054

Adverse Events During Submaximal Aerobic Exercise Testing in People With Subacute Stroke: A Scoping Review
CONCLUSION: Diverse submaximal AEx testing protocols with conservative test termination criteria can be safely implemented with PwSS. Results can inform clinical practice guidelines and address physical therapists' concerns with the occurrence of serious adverse events during submaximal AEx testing.Video Abstract available for more insights from the authors (see the Video, Supplemental Digital Content 1 available at: http://links.lww.com/JNPT/A430).PMID:37184472 | DOI:10.1097/NPT.0000000000000445

Relative Aerobic Load of Daily Activities After Stroke
CONCLUSION: Individuals after stroke experience a high relative aerobic load during cyclic daily-life activities, despite adopting a slower movement pace than peers with no impairments. Perhaps individuals after stroke limit their movement pace to operate at sustainable relative aerobic load levels at the expense of pace and economy.IMPACT: Improving aerobic capacity through structured aerobic training in a rehabilitation program should be further investigated as a potential intervention to improve mobility and functioning after stroke.PMID:37172129 | DOI:10.1093/ptj/pzad005
