Neurological Consequences of Congenital Disorders of Glycosylation
Adv Neurobiol. 2023;29:219-253. doi: 10.1007/978-3-031-12390-0_8.ABSTRACTThe chapter is devoted to neurological aspects of congenital disorders of glycosylation (CDG). At the beginning, the various types of CDG with neurological presentation of symptoms are summarized. Then, the occurrence of various neurological constellation of abnormalities (for example: epilepsy, brain anomalies on neuroimaging, ataxia, stroke-like episodes, autistic features) in different CDG types are discussed followed by data on possible biomarkers and limited treatment options.PMID:36255677 | DOI:10.1007/978-3-031-12390-0_8

Epidemiology of first and recurrent ischemic stroke in Sweden 2010 –2019 – A Riksstroke study
Conclusion: Whereas both first-ever and recurrent IS rates declined in Sweden between 2010 and 2019, the proportional decline was almost double for recurrent IS than for first-ever IS and most pronounced in the elderly. Increased use of secondary preventive drugs, in particular anticoagulants in atrial fibrillation, appears to have contributed, but further studies on precise causes for the decline in recurrent IS are needed.

Self-report of chronic diseases in old-aged individuals: extent of agreement with general practitioner medical records in the German AugUR study
Conclusion Self-reports may be an effective tool to assess diabetes and cancer in observational studies in the old and very old aged. In contrast, self-reports on heart failure, musculoskeletal, kidney or lung diseases may be substantially imprecise.

Surveillance for Sickle Cell Disease - Sickle Cell Data Collection Program, Two States, 2004-2018
This report is the first comprehensive description of CDC's efforts in collaboration with participating states to establish, maintain, and expand SCD surveillance through the SCDC program to improve health outcomes for persons living with SCD. Findings from California and Georgia analyses highlighted a need for additional SCD specialty clinics. Despite different approaches, expansion of SCDC to multiple states was possible using standardized, rigorous methods developed across all participating states for reporting on disease prevalence, health care needs and use, and deaths.PUBLIC HEALTH ACTION: Findings from surveillance ...
