Prioritizing Quality Measures in Acute Stroke Care : A Cost-Effectiveness Analysis
CONCLUSION: Substantial variation exists in the potential net benefit of quality improvement across AIS quality measures. Benefits were highly concentrated among 5 of 10 measures assessed. Our results can help providers and payers set priorities for quality improvement efforts and value-based payments in AIS care.PRIMARY FUNDING SOURCE: National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke.PMID:37126821 | DOI:10.7326/M22-3186

Risk of stroke following antivenom use after venomous snakebite: correspondence
We read with great interest the epidemiological study by Hunget al.1 on the risk of stroke with antivenom use after venomous snakebite in Taiwan. According to the national medical claims data, the authors provide us with useful information and disclose that venomous snakebite is associated with an increased risk of hemorrhagic stroke after the use of antivenom after using the matching propensity score in relevant measurable covariates. We strongly agree with the comments by Yehet al.2 on the unmeasured confounders associated with stroke in the present study. Furthermore, we are concerned that other residual confounders rel...

24-hour ambulatory blood pressure and cryptogenic ischemic stroke in young adults
CONCLUSIONS: Non-dipping patterns of BP were associated with CIS in the absence of a PFO but not in the absence of hypertension. This may reflect differing pathophysiology underlying CIS in patients with versus without a PFO. Due to limitations of the study, results regarding absolute ABP levels should be interpreted with caution.Key MessagesNocturnal non-dipping patterns of blood pressure were associated with cryptogenic ischemic stroke except in participants with a patent foramen ovale and in those without hypertension by any definition, which may indicate differing pathophysiology underlying cryptogenic ischemic stroke ...
