Case of malignant brain edema despite successful recanalization after mechanical thrombectomy for anterior circulation stroke
CONCLUSION: MBE after MT results in unsatisfactory functional outcomes, even if it has successful revascularization. No collateral in the territory of the occluded vessel in the initial angiogram is one of the predictors of MBE after MT.PMID:37151444 | PMC:PMC10159319 | DOI:10.25259/SNI_28_2023

Optimization of 4D Flow MRI Spatial and Temporal Resolution for Examining Complex Hemodynamics in the Carotid Artery Bifurcation
ConclusionA spatial resolution of 0.74 –1.00  mm3 and a temporal resolution of 23 –48 ms (1–2 k-space segments) provides a 4D flow MRI protocol capable of imaging velocity and TAWSS in regions of complex flow within the carotid bifurcation at a clinically acceptable scan time.

Systemic arterial calcium burden in patients with chronic limb-threatening ischemia
CONCLUSIONS: In CLTI patients nearly all arterial territories are severely calcified, suggesting that systemic calcification plays an important role in the poor outcome of this disease.PMID:37150661 | DOI:10.1016/j.jcct.2023.03.003

Tumor Genomic Profile Is Associated With Arterial Thromboembolism Risk in  Patients With Solid Cancer
CONCLUSIONS: In a large genomic tumor-profiling registry of patients with solid cancers, alterations in KRAS and STK11 were associated with an increased risk for ATE independent of cancer type. Further investigation is needed to elucidate the mechanism by which these mutations contribute to ATE in this high-risk population.PMID:37144118 | PMC:PMC10152200 | DOI:10.1016/j.jaccao.2023.01.009

The prognostic role of right ventricular dysfunction in patients with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy
AbstractHypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) primarily affects the left ventricle (LV) sparing the right ventricle (RV) in vast majority of cases. However, several studies employing CMR have revealed that myocardial hypertrophy may also involve the RV. To assess RV size and function in a large prospectively cohort of HCM patients and to evaluate whether these parameters in association with other MR findings can predict cardiac events. Two participating centers prospectively included patients with known or suspected HCM between 2011 and 2017. CMR studies were performed with three different scanners. Outcome measures were a com...

Direct Oral Anticoagulation versus Warfarin in Left Ventricular Thrombus: Pooled Analysis of Randomized Controlled Trials
In conclusion, pooled analysis of RCT data favors DOAC over VKA in patients with LV thrombus both in terms of efficacy and safety. This article is protected by copyright. All rights reserved.PMID:37139934 | DOI:10.1002/jcph.2267
