Stroke and Cardiovascular Outcomes in Patients With Carotid Disease Undergoing Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement Structural Heart Disease
Conclusions— CD is common among TAVR patients, present in 1 of 5. CD was not associated with an increased risk of stroke or mortality at 30 day or 1 year. Post-TAVR stroke seems to be because of mechanisms other than CD.

Two Genomic Regions of Chromosomes 1 and 18 Explain Most of the Stroke Susceptibility Under Salt Loading in Stroke-Prone Spontaneously Hypertensive Rat/Izm Genetics
This study indicated a major role for 2 QTLs on chr 1 and 18 in stroke susceptibility in SHRSP under salt loading. The salt-sensitive blood pressure increase was implied to play a key role in the stroke susceptibility.

Association of obstructive sleep apnoea (osa) with incident stroke: a systematic review and meta-analysis
Conclusion As OSA appears to be independently associated with stroke (and continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) reduces such cardiovascular outcomes in OSA6), clinicians should look out for the symptoms in stroke patients so appropriate risk mitigation strategies may be implemented. Equally, patients with OSA but no history of stroke should receive appropriate management to lower their cardiovascular risk, be it through treatment of OSA with CPAP or modification of traditional risk factors such as obesity and hypertension.

Population-Based Case-Control Study of White Matter Changes on Brain Imaging in Transient Ischemic Attack and Ischemic Stroke Clinical Sciences
Conclusions— In contrast to small vessel ischemic events, WMC were not independently associated with other pathogenic subtypes, suggesting that WMC are unlikely to be an independent risk factor for nonsmall vessel events.

Renal Denervation Prevents Stroke and Brain Injury via Attenuation of Oxidative Stress in Hypertensive Rats Stroke
Conclusions Our present work provided the first experimental evidence that RD can prevent hypertensive stroke and brain injury, beyond blood pressure lowering, thereby highlighting RD as a promising therapeutic strategy for stroke as well as hypertension.

Gender differences in the age‐stratified prevalence of risk factors in Korean ischemic stroke patients: a nationwide stroke registry‐based cross‐sectional study
ConclusionKorean women with stroke had more hypertension and hyperlipidemia after middle age, more diabetes after 65 years, and more atrial fibrillation throughout all ages. Strategies to control risk factors in women at risk for stroke are eagerly needed.

Risk of Metabolic Syndrome for Stroke Is Not Greater than the Sum of its Components: Thai Epidemiologic Stroke (TES) Study
This study aimed to assess the association of MetS with stroke, and to evaluate whether the risk of MetS is greater than the sum of its components. The Thai Epidemiologic Stroke (TES) study is a community-based cohort study with 19,997 participants, aged 45-80 years, recruited from the general population from 5 regions of Thailand. Baseline survey data were analyzed in cross-sectional analyses. MetS was defined according to criteria from the National Cholesterol Education Program (NCEP) Adult Treatment Panel III, the American Heart Association/National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (revised NCEP), and International Diab...

Risk Factor and Etiology Analysis of Ischemic Stroke in Young Adult Patients
Conclusions: Traditional vascular risk factors are also very common in young adults with ischemic stroke, but such factors increase the susceptibility to stroke dependent to other causes as atherosclerosis and small-artery occlusion represent less than 20% of cases. Prognosis quoadvitam is good, being characterized by low mortality and recurrence rate.

Hypertension, alcohol drinking and stroke incidence: a population-based prospective cohort study among inner Mongolians in China
Conclusion:These findings suggest that hypertension is an independent risk factor of stroke in Inner Mongolians. Drinkers with hypertension seem to be more susceptible to stroke; larger-sample prospective cohort studies are still required to examine the cumulative effect of drinking and hypertension on stroke incidence.

Localized Retinal Nerve Fiber Layer Defects and Stroke Clinical Sciences
Conclusions— Localized RNFLDs showed a strong association with previous or acute cerebrovascular stroke and vice versa after adjustment for other systemic and ocular factors. Localized RNFLDs that can be assessed by noninvasive optical coherence tomographic imaging may be added to the panoply of retinal morphological features of stroke.

Neighborhood socioeconomic status and the prevalence of stroke and coronary heart disease in rural China: A population‐based study
ConclusionsThere were differences in vascular risk across rural villages in China, with higher lifetime stroke and CHD prevalence in higher‐income villages. For CHD, neighborhood effects were stronger among younger residents of high‐income villages. The results may have implications for public health interventions targeting populations at risk.

Frequency and Determinants of Intracranial Atherosclerotic Stroke in Urban Pakistan
Conclusions: ICAD accounted for one fifth of all strokes making it the most common ischemic stroke mechanism. In addition to aggressive risk factor control, data also indicated broader holistic efforts on ameliorating inequity, unemployment, and stress reduction to reduce stroke because of ICAD.
