Prevalence of atrial fibrillation and reasons for undertreatment with oral anticoagulants
ConclusionsIn the population of V ästernorrland County, a very high AF prevalence of 4.7% was found, of which just over 90% would theoretically benefit from OAC treatment. This is higher than previously reported and stresses the importance of stroke prevention in this large patient group.

Association of Long-Term Exposure to Transportation Noise and Traffic-Related Air Pollution with the Incidence of Diabetes: A Prospective Cohort Study
Conclusion: We found a positive association between residential transportation noise and diabetes, adding to the growing body of evidence that noise pollution exposure may be independently linked to metabolic health and should be considered when developing public health interventions. https://doi.org/10.1289/EHP1279 Received: 26 October 2016 Revised: 07 May 2017 Accepted: 09 May 2017 Published: 31 August 2017 Address correspondence to C. Survival in Out-of-hospital Rapid Sequence Intubation of Non-Traumatic Brain Pathologies.
CONCLUSIONS: Non-traumatic brain pathologies are seven times more prevalent than traumatic brain injuries in patients that underwent out-of-hospital RSI in Victoria, Australia. Since the mechanisms through which RSI impacts mortality might differ between traumatic brain injuries and NTBP, and given that NTBP is very prevalent, it follows that the use of RSI in NTBP could be unsupported. Stroke is a brain disease
Although the title may seem as stating the obvious, the case has been far from that for the last six decades; if someone anywhere in the world had a stroke or a TIA, the WHO coding system places the event under either vascular diseases or episodic symptoms, not in the appropriate nervous system disease chapter of the ICD10. This situation started with ICD7 in 1955 and continued ever since, skewing all statistics produced by the WHO of neurological diseases. The ICD10 has been in use since 1990 and a total revamp is long overdue.

Moyamoya and ethnic diversity (P6.252)
Conclusions:Our study showed significant proportion of AA patients compared to other cohorts studied in the US. With the rise in MMS in different ethnicities in the US, further studies need to be conducted to get a better understanding of causes within these populations.Disclosure: Dr. Irshad has nothing to disclose. Abstract PD4-07: Are aromatase inhibitors associated with higher myocardial infarction risk in breast cancer patients? A Medicare population study
Conclusions: The occurrence of MI is very low in this cohort (4.4%), reassuring the clinicians that the older adults with comorbidities may not be at a higher risk of MI with adjuvant endocrine therapy. However, the confidence interval for the hazard ratio of AIs vs Tamoxifen is very wide, indicating that a larger sample may be needed for the power of the study to be conclusive.Citation Format: Kamaraju S, Smith E, Shi Y, Laud P, Neuner J. Comparing ischaemic stroke in six European countries. The EuroHOPE register study (P1.068)
CONCLUSIONS: It is feasible to link population-wide register data among European countries to describe incidence of hospitalisations, treatment patterns, and case-fatality of ischaemic stroke on a national level. However, the coverage and validity of administrative register data for ischaemic stroke should be developed further, and population-based and clinical stroke registers created to allow better control of case-mix. National registry‐based case–control study: comorbidity and stroke in young adults
ConclusionsIn addition to vascular risk factors, comorbidity (represented by ICD‐10 chapters) was associated with increased risk of stroke in young individuals. The risk of stroke was further increased with the number of diagnosed ICD‐10 chapters.

Abstract B84: Increasing disparities in breast cancer mortality for young black women in the U.S. from 1979-2010
Conclusions: Though mortality rates have declined over the past 30 years for women under 50, significant disparities in the two leading causes of death, cancer and CVD, remain. The persistence of disparities across diseases highlights the need to focus on improving health outcomes broadly, in addition to disease centered approaches, in order to prevent premature deaths among young women. The breast cancer mortality rate was two times greater among black women younger than 50 compared to white women, indicating a more profound disparity in younger women than older women. Furthermore, while relative disparities have decrease...

Comorbidity profile in dementia with Lewy bodies versus Alzheimer’s disease: a linkage study between the Swedish Dementia Registry and the Swedish National Patient Registry
Conclusions: Our study indicated a worse comorbidity profile in DLB patients with higher occurrence of depression, stroke and migraine compared with the AD group. Deeper knowledge about the underlying mechanisms of these associations is needed to explore possible reasons for the different pattern of comorbidity profile in DLB compared to AD and their prognostic significance.

Ranibizumab and Risk of Hospitalisation for Ischaemic Stroke and Myocardial Infarction in Patients with Age-Related Macular Degeneration: A Self-Controlled Case-Series Analysis
Conclusion This case-series analysis suggests an increased risk of hospitalisation for ischaemic stroke for patients receiving ranibizumab in the 31–60 days risk period. Studies with larger populations are required to confirm the risk in the 1–30 days risk period. No evidence of increased risk of hospitalisation for MI was observed.
