Prospective collection of blood plasma samples to identify potential biomarkers for the prehospital stroke diagnosis (ProGrEss-Bio): study protocol for a multicenter prospective observational study
This study will evaluate whether a single blood biomarker or a combination of biomarkers can distinguish patients with AIS and ICH from patients with stroke and SM in the early phase after symptom onset in the prehospital setting. In addition, the kinetics of blood biomarkers in AIS and ICH patients will be investigated. Our goal is to evaluate new ways to reliably diagnose stroke in the prehospital setting and thus accelerate the application of evidence-based therapies to stroke patients.

Connectomic insight into unique stroke patient recovery after rTMS treatment
This study demonstrates for the first time the feasibility of using individualized connectivity analyses in differentiating unique phenotypes in rTMS treatment responses and recovery. This personalized connectomic approach may be utilized in the future to better understand patient recovery trajectories with neuromodulatory treatment.

Evaluation of Left Atrial (LA) Metrics in Cardioembolic Stroke Patients According to Burden of Atrial Fibrillation (AF)
This study aimed to evaluate left atrial (LA) metrics in CES in sinus rhythm (SR) (Group 1), paroxysmal (PAF) (Group 2), and persistent AF (Group 3). Consecutive CES patients presenting with index stroke to this tertiary hospital were evaluated; no prior AF and in-hospital telemetry determined patients as SR, PAF, or persistent AF (n=30/group). Comprehensive transthoracic echocardiogram evaluated LA metrics.

Epidemiology, repair technique, and predictors of stroke and mortality in penetrating carotid artery injuries
This retrospective review of the NTDB found that carotid repair was associated with improved mortality outcomes compared to ligation; however, there was no difference in stroke outcome. The factors predictive of stroke were low GCS, high ISS, and a history of neurological deficit prior to injury and those predictive of in-hospital mortality were carotid ligation, low GCS, high ISS, and cardiac arrest.
