Silent but Deadly: Legionella maceachernii: Causing Culture-Negative Bioprosthetic Mitral Valve Endocarditis Complicated by Stroke
We report the first case of bioprosthetic valve endocarditis due to Legionella maceachernii. This case highlights the importance of the use of DNA target sequencing to identify the cause of culture-negative endocarditis, as standard empiric therapy would not have covered the identified organism.
