Neurobrucellosis Mimicking Primary CNS Vasculitis--Should We Perform CSF Metagenomics Before Brain Biopsy?: A Case Report
Discussion Brucellosis is an endemic disease in developing countries and may mimic PCNSV. Our patient fulfilled the criteria for possible PCNSV; however, brain biopsy was inconsistent with PCNSV, and CSF mNGS disclosed neurobrucellosis. This case illustrates the importance of CSF mNGS in the differential diagnosis of CNS vasculitis.

Case report: A case of abrupt stroke as the first symptom of neurobrucellosis
In this study, we report the case of a patient with neurobrucellosis who was hospitalized in the First People's Hospital of Lianyungang in September 2022; the primary symptom was weakness in the left limb for 14 h. The patient was discharged after receiving symptomatic and anti-Brucella medication.

Neurobrucellosis with ischemic stroke and spinal cord involvement: a case report
Brucellosis is a common zoonotic disease that may have a variety of clinical manifestations when it affects the nervous system. Ischemic stroke is a rare clinical symptom, but if it is not diagnosed and treate...

Flow-Diverter Stenting of Intracavernous Internal Carotid Artery Mycotic Aneurysm
This is the first reported case in which a mycotic aneurysm refractory to the first medical treatment was treated with a Pipeline embolization device (PED), and the first case of a mycotic aneurysm from Brucella treated by endovascular therapy. A 35-year-old man presented with left eye pain and ptosis, and fever for 2 weeks. Before symptom onset, he visited Vietnam where he developed a flu-like illness; however, antibiotics were ineffective. We suspected Brucella as the most likely infectious etiology for the patient's intracavernous aneurysm.

A Comparison of Three Different Bioinformatics Analyses of the 16S –23S rRNA Encoding Region for Bacterial Identification
Conclusion The higher resolution at the species level identification provided by 16S–23S rRNA encoding region NGS makes its use in routine diagnostic microbiology potentially attractive. Particularly, data analysis is one of the most important steps of a diagnostic workflow, which requires an optimal pipeline for the interpretation of the sequencing data in a short time. This study demonstrates that de novo assembly and subsequent BLASTN analysis using an in-house developed database compared to OTU clustering and mapping approaches is the most accurate and fastest approach for identification of bacterial pathogens....

Vasculitis and neurobrucellosis: Evaluation of nine cases using radiologic findings
ConclusionsWe aimed to present our cases due to the fact that this disease should be kept in mind in the differential diagnosis of patients with stroke and similar neuropsychiatric findings. Vascular syndromes are rarely seen in inflammation in Neurobrucellosis. Neurobrucellosis should be kept in mind in the differential diagnosis of stroke and patients with similar neuropsychiatric findings.

Neurobrucellosis: diagnostic and clinical management of an atypical case.
We describe an atypical case of brucellar meningitis with many stroke-like signs, think as recurrent cerebrovascular events and treated with antithrombotic therapy, but without meningeal syndrome. PMID: 29384559 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]
