Ischemic strokes in COVID-19: risk factors, obesity paradox, and distinction between trigger and causal association
ConclusionOur stroke occurrence rate is consistent with other population-based reports (range 0.34–2.7%). Prespecified peculiar clinical and radiological features allow the distinction between “IS caused by COVID-19” and “IS triggered by COVID-19.” Clinical history of vascular diseases and risk factors is crucial in determining the risk of IS in patients with COVID-19. However, the protective effect of a BMI > 30 kg/m2 seems to suggest an obesity paradox.

Protective effect of vaccination on the risk of cardiovascular disease after SARS-CoV-2 infection
ConclusionAlthough COVID-19 increased the CVD risk, the inverse association in the risk of CVDs according to vaccine doses was significant in a dose –response manner. Our findings suggest that ≥ second doses of the COVID-19 vaccine prevent the risk of CVDs after SARS-CoV-2 infection.Graphical abstractIn 2,146,130 infected adults ( ≥ 20 years), the inverse association in the short-term risk of cardiovascular diseases, including coronary heart disease and stroke, according to vaccine doses received was significant in a dose–response manner.

E-145 Mortality following mechanical thrombectomy for ischemic stroke in patients with COVID-19
ConclusionOverall, this study indicates that COVID-19 is a predictor of mortality among mechanical thrombectomy. This finding is likely multifactorial but may be related to multisystem inflammation, hypercoagulability, and re-occlusion seen in COVID-19 patients. E-164 Symptomatic developmental venous anomaly thrombosis associated with covid-19 infection
We describe a milder case of DVA thrombosis in the setting of COVID-19 infection presenting with unilateral hemiparesis requiring medical management alone. A 41-year-old female with hypertension who presented with left hemiparesis. Non-contrast computed tomography (CT) of head revealed linear calcifications in the right centrum semiovale consistent with DVA. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) revealed an acute ischemic stroke in the right corona radiata adjacent to the vascular abnormality. RECREATE: a study protocol for a multicentre pilot cluster randomised controlled trial (cRCT) in UK stroke services evaluating an intervention to reduce sedentary behaviour in stroke survivors (Get Set Go) with embedded process and economic evaluations
This study is a pragmatic, multicentre, two-arm, external pilot cluster randomised controlled trial with embedded process and economic evaluations. UK-based stroke services will be randomised 1:1 to the intervention (usual care plus Get Set Go) or control (usual care) arm. Fifteen stroke services will recruit 300–400 stroke inpatient and carer participants, with follow-up at 6, 12 and 24 months. P-028 Impact of the covid-19 pandemic on the intracranial aneurysm treatment and associated outcomes: a propensity score matching study
Conclusions and RelevanceThe COVID-19 pandemic has significantly impacted the healthcare system and has led to changes in the treatment of various neurological conditions, including ICAs. The pandemic resulted in a shift in the treatment of SAH and an increase in endovascular procedures over open surgical clipping. COVID-19 infection has been associated with an increased risk of ischemic stroke and worsened outcomes for stroke patients.
