Factors influencing recurrence after an ischemic stroke vary by sex
We examined relative factors associated with recurrent stroke in Chinese patients with first-ever ischemic stroke. LASSO (least absolute shrinkage and selection operator) Cox regression were used to determine the predictors of recurrent stroke in the male and female groups. Next, We used Kaplan-Meier survival curves and interactions among these predictors to assess the association between relapse-related factors and recurrent stroke.RESULTS: During one year of follow-up, we documented 42 incidents of recurrent stroke in males and 15 in females. There was no significant difference in the overall recurrence rate between men ...

Elevated levels of total homocysteine after ischemic stroke: a potential marker for in-hospital outcomes
CONCLUSION: HHcy was associated with increased in-hospital stroke recurrence and CVD events among patients with IS. In low-folate regions, tHcy levels may potentially predict in-hospital outcomes after IS.PMID:36893016 | DOI:10.1080/01616412.2022.2159137

Predictors, timing, causes and cost of 30-day readmission after acute ischemic stroke: insights from a Chinese cohort 2015-2018
CONCLUSIONS: The findings highlight the importance of the readmission of ischemic stroke and corresponding policies and interventions, and our work could provide a potential manage path for the reduction of readmission rate.PMID:35876140 | DOI:10.1080/01616412.2022.2105489

C-Reaction Protein and the Severity of Intracerebral Hemorrhage: A Study from Chinese Stroke Center Alliance
CONCLUSIONS: High CRP level was independently associated with poorer clinical outcome and higher in-hospital death in patients with ICH.PMID:34559025 | DOI:10.1080/01616412.2021.1980842
