Increased neuropil antibody prevalence in COVID-19 patients with acute ischemic stroke
CONCLUSION: Our results confirm the presence of neuropil antibodies in patients with COVID-19 infection and identify a putative antibody-driven association between AIS and COVID-19. The antigenic targets and potential pathogenic action of these antibodies need to be further explored.PMID:37634189 | DOI:10.1080/01616412.2023.2252282

Temporal course of peripheral inflammation markers and indexes following acute ischemic stroke: prediction of mortality, functional outcome, and stroke-associated pneumonia
CONCLUSIONS: Inflammatory parameters from peripheral routine blood tests showed significant variations during the first two weeks following stroke, but discriminative capacity of these changes is limited due to confounders such as age and post-treatment clinical stroke severity.PMID:34514954 | DOI:10.1080/01616412.2021.1975222

Portable fibrobronchoscopic treatment for non-severe ischemic stroke-associated pneumonia patients with dysphagia: a pilot study.
CONCLUSION: Sputum suction and alveolar lavage with portable fibrobronchoscope can significantly improve the hypoxia and pulmonary infections, reduce the inflammatory response, and thus improve the prognosis, rendering suction and alveolar lavage with portable fibrobronchoscope as a safe and effective treatment for non-severe ischemic SAP patients with dysphagia. Development and validation of a risk score to predict 30-day mortality in patients with atrial fibrillation-related stroke: GPS-GF score.
Conclusion The GPS-GF score is a simple and valid tool for predicting 30-day mortality in patients with AF-related stroke. PMID: 29544401 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Predictors of dependence after MCA ischemic stroke submitted to thrombolysis.
DISCUSSION: .Dependence is an important indicator of the efficacy of stroke care. Besides it was not possible to evaluate rehabilitation, this is the first study on predictors of post-stroke dependence that focus exclusively on patients with first-ever MCA IS submitted to IVT. NIHSS, LAA stroke, in-hospital pneumonia and seizures after discharge were associated with dependence after first-ever MCA IS submitted to IVT. PMID: 29125072 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Predictors of neurological deterioration during hospitalization: results from the Chinese Intracranial Atherosclerosis (CICAS) Study.
DISCUSSION: Patients with watershed infarcts and MCA or BA stenosis or occlusion should be monitored closely, and various therapeutic strategies should be administered simultaneously to prevent pneumonia during hospitalisation. PMID: 25917464 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]
