Virtual Reality and Noninvasive Brain Stimulation in Stroke: How Effective Is Their Combination for Upper Limb Motor Improvement? —A Meta-Analysis
Efforts to augment post-stroke upper limb (UL) motor improvement include the use of newer interventions such as noninvasive brain stimulation (NIBS) and task practice in virtual reality environments (VEs). Despite increasing interest in using a combination of these 2 interventions, the effectiveness of this combination to enhance UL motor improvement outcomes has not been examined.

A single trial may be used for measuring muscle strength with dynamometers in individuals with stroke: A cross-sectional study
The mean of three trials is commonly employed to report measures of muscle strength after a stroke. However, only a single trial showed to provide consistent and reliable results regarding dynamometric measures of grip, pinch, and trunk strength in individuals with stroke. Nevertheless, there were not found any studies that investigated whether only a single trial could also be used for the assessment of strength of the upper and lower-limb muscles.

Dextromethorphan/Quinidine for Pseudobulbar Affect Following Stroke: Safety and Effectiveness in the PRISM II Trial
Dextromethorphan (DM)/quinidine (Q) was approved for pseudobulbar affect (PBA) treatment based upon efficacy and safety trials in patients with PBA secondary to amyotrophic lateral sclerosis or multiple sclerosis. The PRISM II trial evaluated DM/Q as PBA treatment in patients with stroke, dementia or traumatic brain injury.

The Possible Effect of Oxytocin in Post-Partum Recovery from a Stroke: A Case Report
Pregnancy is a risk factor for stroke in young women, but the effect of delivery on recovery and rehabilitation after stroke has not been elucidated in pregnant stroke patients. This case report presents a pregnant stroke patient who recovered successfully after cesarean delivery during rehabilitation. The possible effect of oxytocin is discussed as a factor promoting recovery from stroke.

Functional Outcomes of an Interdisciplinary Outpatient Rehabilitation Program for Patients with Malignant Brain Tumors
Malignant brain tumors cause significant impairments in function due to nature of the disease. Patients with malignant brain tumors can make functional gains equivalent to those with stroke and traumatic brain injury in the inpatient rehabilitation setting. The effects of botulinum toxin injections on plantar flexor spasticity in different phases after stroke. A secondary analysis from a double-blind, randomized trial
There are no guidelines on the ideal time to inject botulinum toxin (BT-A) for lower leg spasticity in stroke patients. An early injection may produce unwanted weakness, interfering with gait recovery.
