Artificial Intelligence and Data-Driven Rehabilitation: The Next Frontier in the Management of Cardiometabolic Disorders
It is well known that cardiometabolic diseases (CMD) such as myocardial infarction, stroke and diabetes are associated with excess mortality and morbidity, and it is broadly accepted that an individual's lifestyle and activity levels are major risk factors.1 This is particularly true for patients who are largely sedentary, have limited mobility, or who find it difficult to maintain adequate levels of physical activity much less achieve the recommended moderate-to-vigorous physical levels for cardiometabolic health.

Letter to the Editor on “Traditional Cardiovascular Risk Factors Strongly Underestimate the 5-Year Occurrence of Cardiovascular Morbidity and Mortality in Spinal Cord Injured Individuals”
Barton et al's1 article studies cardiovascular risk in a cohort of individuals with a spinal cord injury (SCI). As the authors noted, the Framingham Risk Score (FRS) was derived to identify risk factors for cardiovascular disease. It is important to note, however, that the outcome measure for this risk score is defined as a “composite of coronary heart disease (coronary death, myocardial infarction, coronary insufficiency, and angina), cerebrovascular events (including ischemic stroke, hemorrhagic stoke, and transient ischemic attack), peripheral artery disease (intermittent claudication), and heart failure.”2 This com...

Preventing Recurrent Stroke
A stroke is like a heart attack in your brain. Recognizing the signs of a stroke is very important, especially for people who have already had a stroke. Recurrent strokes are often associated with greater disability and higher death rates.

Cardiac Rehabilitation and Outcome in Stable Outpatients With Recent Myocardial Infarction
Conclusions: The use of cardiac rehabilitation in patients with recent MI was independently associated with a significant decrease in the mortality rate and a nonsignificant decrease in the rate of subsequent ischemic events.
