ConclusionsThis multicenter clinical trial describes excellent 5-year outcomes and durable exclusion of blunt thoracic aortic injury using a novel stent graft system. TEVAR with this endograft appears to be a safe and effective treatment option for patients with BTAI.

ConclusionsOur extended experience with this technique confirms its safety and effectiveness when used on a routine basis. The rates of spinal cord injury and permanent renal failure are among the lowest reported in the literature. Particularly favorable outcomes were observed in younger patients and those undergoing elective operations.

Conclusions Open repair of mycotic descending thoracic and thoracoabdominal aortic aneurysms remains the gold standard of therapy. Aggressive intraoperative debridement with in situ prosthetic reconstruction permits a high rate of success in this very high risk cohort of patients. Lifelong antibiotic suppression therapy may prevent late prosthetic graft infection.

Preservation of Motor Function After Spinal Cord Ischemia and Reperfusion Injury Through Microglial Inhibition ORIGINAL ARTICLES: ADULT CARDIAC
Conclusions Minocycline limits microglial activation, paralleling functional preservation after aortic cross-clamping. These data suggest functional microglia contribute to reperfusion injury after spinal cord ischemia. The effects of minocycline demonstrate a potential pharmacological therapy as well as demonstrating a potential cellular target in preventing paraplegia after aortic intervention.
