Improvement in overactive bladder symptoms in patients using functional electrical stimulation of the common peroneal nerve for walking.
CONCLUSION: The results of this exploratory study suggest that functional electrical stimulation use does improve overactive bladder symptoms in people with multiple sclerosis. Further exploration is needed to study this association and explore whether the mechanism is similar to that of percutaneous tibial nerve stimulation, a recognized treatment for the overactive bladder. CONCLUSION: Each year, about 5/100,000 people will enter a prolonged state of unconsciousness from acute onset and progressive brain damage; and at any one time, there may be 5/100,000 people in that state. Factors associated with perceived participation three months after being discharged from a tertiary hospital.
CONCLUSIONS: Activities of daily living were significantly associated with perceived participation in almost all domains. In contrast, anxiety was an important factor in predicting participation in the domain of social relations. Effects of additional, dynamic supported standing practice on functional recovery in patients with sub-acute stroke: A randomized pilot and feasibility trial.

Self-help relaxation for post-stroke anxiety: A randomised, controlled pilot study.

An augmented cognitive behavioural therapy for treating post-stroke depression: description of a treatment protocol.
We present a new psychological intervention designed to reduce depressive complaints after stroke. METHOD OF PROTOCOL DEVELOPMENT: This intervention was based on cognitive behavioural therapy principles and was shown feasible in a pilot study. Adhesive taping vs. daily manual muscle stretching and splinting after botulinum toxin type A injection for wrist and fingers spastic overactivity in stroke patients: a randomized controlled trial.

National Institute for Health and Care Excellence stroke rehabilitation guidance - is it useful, usable, and based on best evidence?
Abstract In the UK, the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) is responsible for producing clinical guidance based on sound evidence. In 2013 they produced guidance on Stroke Rehabilitation and this editorial outlines why this is not a useful guide for clinicians or commissioners. The Stroke Assessment of Fall Risk (SAFR): predictive validity in inpatient stroke rehabilitation.
CONCLUSIONS: An evidence-derived, population-specific fall risk assessment may more accurately predict fallers than a general fall risk screen for stroke rehabilitation patients. What does confidence mean to people who have had a stroke? - A qualitative interview study.
CONCLUSION: This study provides a coherent definition of the meaning of confidence through the experiences of stroke survivors. Being successful in gradually re-engaging in activities, including social activities and life roles helped to establish a positive self-belief.
