Timing of microsurgical resection for ruptured brain arteriovenous malformations: a propensity score-matched analysis using prospective single-center registry data
CONCLUSIONS: Early and delayed resection of ruptured AVMs had similar long-term neurological outcomes. Delayed resection can lead to a higher complete obliteration rate, although the risk of rerupture during the resection waiting period should be vigilantly monitored.PMID:37439476 | DOI:10.3171/2023.5.JNS222666

Effect of collateral status on the outcomes of endovascular treatment of acute basilar artery occlusion due to large-artery atherosclerosis
CONCLUSIONS: A good collateral status was a strong prognostic factor after EVT in patients with BAO underlying LAA. A shorter procedure time was associated with favorable outcomes in patients with a good collateral status.PMID:37310068 | DOI:10.3171/2023.4.JNS222779

Does tumoral cavernous carotid stenosis predict an increased risk of future stroke in skull base meningiomas?
CONCLUSIONS: Acute stroke in patients with ICA encasement by SBMs is rare despite the propensity of these tumors to stenose the ICA. Patients with ICA stenosis secondary to their SBM did not have a higher incidence of stroke than those with ICA encasement without stenosis. The results of this study demonstrate that prophylactic intervention to prevent stroke is not necessary in ICA stenosis secondary to SBM.PMID:37178029 | DOI:10.3171/2023.4.JNS23378

Initial experience with transcarotid arterial revascularization with flow reversal in the management of symptomatic carotid stenosis
CONCLUSIONS: The authors' initial experience with TCAR suggests that it might provide an effective alternative to carotid endarterectomy and carotid artery stenting in the management of symptomatic carotid stenosis in patients with high-risk anatomical and medical characteristics.PMID:37029678 | DOI:10.3171/2023.2.JNS222377

A long-term study of posterior circulation changes after revascularization in patients with moyamoya disease
CONCLUSIONS: Progression of PCA stenosis is common in patients with MMD, even if the PCA is normal initially. Mutations of RNF213 p.R4810K may predict PCA involvement or progression. Follow-up of the PCA in MMD patients should be conducted, and timely surgical revascularization is needed.PMID:37029668 | DOI:10.3171/2023.2.JNS222649
