Quantitative Arterial Tortuosity Suggests Arteriopathy in Children With Cryptogenic Stroke Brief Report
Conclusions—Pediatric cryptogenic stroke is frequently associated with cervicocerebral arteriopathies expressing altered QAT. QAT may be a diagnostic biomarker of arteriopathy in pediatric AIS.

Eligibility for Endovascular Trial Enrollment in the 6- to 24-Hour Time Window Brief Report
Conclusions—Of all patients with acute ischemic stroke presenting to a single comprehensive stroke center, 1.7% of patients qualified for DAWN clinical trial enrollment with an additional 0.6% to 1% qualifying for the DEFUSE-3 trial. These data predict an increase in thrombectomy utilization with important implications for comprehensive stroke center resource optimization and stroke systems of care.

Transcranial Direct Current Stimulation Does Not Improve Language Outcome in Subacute Poststroke Aphasia Brief Report
Background and Purpose—The aim of the present study is to investigate the effect of transcranial direct current stimulation on word-finding treatment outcome in subacute poststroke aphasia. Methods—In this multi-center, double-blind, randomized controlled trial with 6-month follow-up, we included 58 patients with subacute aphasia (

Geographic Modeling to Quantify the Impact of Primary and Comprehensive Stroke Center Destination Policies Brief Report
Conclusions—Within a large metropolitan area, the time cost of routing patients preferentially to PSCs and comprehensive stroke centers is low.

Ischemic Stroke Alters the Expression of the Transcribed Ultraconserved Regions of the Genome in Rat Brain Brief Report
Conclusions—This first report shows that ischemic stroke temporally alters the noncoding ultraconserved RNAs in spontaneously hypertensive rats, but their functional significance is yet to be evaluated.

2018 Guidelines for the Early Management of Patients With Acute Ischemic Stroke: A Guideline for Healthcare Professionals From the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association AHA/ASA Guideline
Conclusions—These guidelines are based on the best evidence currently available. In many instances, however, only limited data exist demonstrating the urgent need for continued research on treatment of acute ischemic stroke.

Accuracy of Prediction Instruments for Diagnosing Large Vessel Occlusion in Individuals With Suspected Stroke: A Systematic Review for the 2018 Guidelines for the Early Management of Patients With Acute Ischemic Stroke AHA/ASA Systematic Review
Conclusions—No scale predicted LVO with both high sensitivity and high specificity. Systems that use LVO prediction instruments for triage will miss some patients with LVO and milder stroke. More prospective studies are needed to assess the accuracy of LVO prediction instruments in the prehospital setting in all patients with suspected stroke, including patients with hemorrhagic stroke and stroke mimics.

Effect of Dysphagia Screening Strategies on Clinical Outcomes After Stroke: A Systematic Review for the 2018 Guidelines for the Early Management of Patients With Acute Ischemic Stroke AHA/ASA Systematic Review
Conclusions—There were insufficient RCT data to determine the effect of dysphagia screening protocols on reducing the rates of pneumonia, death, or dependency after stroke. Additional trials are needed to compare the validity, feasibility, and clinical effectiveness of different screening methods for dysphagia.
