Association of hyperuricemia with cardiovascular diseases: current evidence
Hosp Pract (1995). 2023 Feb 2. doi: 10.1080/21548331.2023.2173413. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTThe aim of the present study is to present a historical and unified perspective on the association of serum uric acid (SUA) in the cause cardiovascular diseases (CVDs). The association of hyperuricemia (HUC) with CVD begun to be appreciated in the middle 1950s and early 1990s when clinical evidence was shown on the association of HUC with CVD. However, this association was disputed by several investigators including the Framingham group and by professional societies, like the American Heart Association and the American Society ...

Protective Roles of Adropin in Neurological Disease
Am J Physiol Cell Physiol. 2023 Jan 30. doi: 10.1152/ajpcell.00318.2022. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTAdropin is a highly conserved secreted peptide encoded by the Energy Homeostasis Associated gene (Enho). It is expressed in many tissues throughout the body, including the liver and brain, and plays a crucial role in maintaining lipid homeostasis and regulating insulin sensitivity. Adropin also participates in several other pathophysiological processes of multiple central nervous system (CNS) diseases. There is strong evidence of the protective effects of adropin in stroke, heart disease, aging, and other diseases. The pe...

Triglyceride-glucose index and the incidence of stroke: A meta-analysis of cohort studies
CONCLUSION: A higher TyG index may be independently associated with a higher risk of stroke in individuals without stroke at baseline. The aforementioned findings need to be verified by a large-scale prospective cohort study to further clarify the underlying pathophysiological mechanism between the TyG index and stroke.PMID:36686534 | PMC:PMC9845890 | DOI:10.3389/fneur.2022.1033385
