The 100 most-cited articles about the role of neurovascular unit in stroke 2001-2020: A bibliometric analysis
CONCLUSION: There has been growing attention and efforts made in the field of stroke and NVU. The merit of the above findings may help to shape the research policy in ischemic stroke both at the country and institutional level.PMID:33764687 | DOI:10.1111/cns.13636

Comparison of Stroke Risk Factors Between Symptomatic and Asymptomatic Patients in a North American Moyamoya Disease Cohort
Conclusions: No significant differences in the prevalence of stroke risk factors between MMD cohorts was found, corroborating evidence provided in a recent Japanese-based study. There were no apparent associations between s troke risk factors and interval cerebrovascular events in an asymptomatic group of MMD patients.

Association Between Sleep Duration and Sleep Disorder Data from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey and Stroke Among Adults in the United States
CONCLUSIONS Short sleep duration and sleep disorder were associated with an increased risk of stroke, suggesting healthy sleep behaviors may reduce the risk of stroke. However, further studies are needed to confirm the causality and underlying mechanism.PMID:35780293 | DOI:10.12659/MSM.936384

E-038 Stroke registries and publication metrics in relation to registration and industry sponsorship
ConclusionsStroke registries generate a substantial amount of publications and citations in literature. Approximately two-thirds of all publications do not reach their expected number of citations. Those registered at clinicaltrials.gov have fewer citations than their unregistered counterparts. Industry-sponsored registries have a higher impact factor, reflecting their publications in more prominent journals, but are less cited than non-sponsored ones.Disclosures W. Khawar: None. A. The effects of racism and resilience on Black stroke- survivor quality of life: Study protocol and rationale for a mixed-methods approach
This study aims to examine the effects of experiences of racism and resilience on Black SS QoL during early stroke recovery. This article presents the study protocol. Methods and analysesThis will be a prospective observational mixed-methods study. Black community-dwelling adults who are within 4 weeks of a stroke will be eligible for inclusion. Baseline measures will include the exposure variables of experiences of racism and resilience. Covariates measured at baseline include sociodemographic variables (age, sex, marital status, education, income, health insurance, employment status, number of people in household, residen...

Risk of stroke/systemic embolism, major bleeding and associated costs in non-valvular atrial fibrillation patients who initiated apixaban, dabigatran, or rivaroxaban compared with warfarin in the United States Medicare population: updated analysis
CONCLUSIONS: This real-world analysis showed DOACs to be associated with lower risk of stroke/SE and major bleeding, and lower medical costs compared to warfarin. Among them, only apixaban appears to be associated with a significantly lower risk of all three outcomes collectively: stroke/SE, major bleeding, and lower related medical costs compared to warfarin.PMID:35993487 | DOI:10.1080/03007995.2022.2115772

IJERPH, Vol. 19, Pages 10817: Spatiotemporal Correlation Analysis of Hydraulic Fracturing and Stroke in the United States
kins Xin Li Hydraulic fracturing or fracking has led to a rapid growth of oil and gas production in the United States, but the impact of fracking on public health is an important but underresearched topic. We designed a methodology to study spatiotemporal correlations between the risk of fracking and stroke mortality. An annualized loss expectancy (ALE) model is applied to quantify the risk of fracking. The geographically and temporally weighted regression (GTWR) model is used to analyze spatiotemporal correlations of stroke mortality, fracking ALE, and nine other socioeconomic- and health-related factors. The analys...
