AbstractSince 2015, stroke has become the leading cause of death and disability in China, posing a significant threat to the health of its citizens as a major chronic non-communicable disease. EE568 Tenecteplase or Alteplase for Acute Ischemic Stroke? A Cost-Effectiveness Analysis
Alteplase is widely used as intravenous thrombolytic medication in acute ischemic stroke (AIS). However, tenecteplase, a genetically modified form of alteplase, has recently been shown to result in higher recanalization rates, improved functional outcome and a similar safety profile in AIS patients with large vessel occlusion (LVO) compared to alteplase. Accordingly, this study aims to evaluate the cost-effectiveness of 0.25mg/kg tenecteplase versus 0.9mg/kg alteplase for thrombolysis in AIS patients due to LVO from the Dutch healthcare payer perspective.

Oral anticoagulants: a systematic overview of reviews on efficacy and safety, genotyping, self-monitoring, and stakeholder experiences
ConclusionsFor stroke prevention in AF, direct OACs seem to be more effective and safer than usual care, and apixaban (5 mg twice daily) had the best profile. For VTE, there was no strong evidence that direct OACs were better than usual care. Education and pharmacist management could improve coagulation control. Both clinicians and patients rated efficacy and safety as the most important factors in managing AF and V TE.Systematic review registrationPROSPERO CRD42017084263 —one deviation; efficacy and safety were from one review.

Massive acute ischemic stroke after Bothrops spp. envenomation in southwestern Colombia: Case report and literature review
We present here the case of a 50-year-old male with no comorbidities referred from a rural area in southwest Colombia with a Bothrops spp. snakebite on the left hand. On admission, the patient presented with a deterioration of consciousness and required mechanical ventilation assistance.
