Soluble P-selectin levels in patients with obstructive sleep apnea: a systematic review and meta-analysis
ConclusionThe pooled results reveal that OSA patients have higher sP-selectin levels than non-OSA controls. This conclusion remains unaltered in all subgroups other than the subgroup of mild OSA patients. Additional studies are warranted to better identify the role of sP-selectin as a potential biomarker in OSA patients.

To Pack or Not to Pack: Inpatient Management of Epistaxis in the Elderly.
Conclusion Nonpacking interventions in the elderly do not appear to be associated with increased morbidity or mortality when compared to nasal packing only but appear to be associated with increased hospital charges and length of stay. Dabigatran: A new oral anticoagulant. Guidelines to follow in oral surgery procedures. A systematic review of the literature.
Conclusions: Currently, there is no consensus on the procedure to be followed in patients taking dabigatran. However, all authors agree to treat each case individually in accordance to the risk of embolism, postoperative bleeding and renal function. Management of airway compromise following thyroid cyst hemorrhage after thrombolytic therapy
We present a case of a 62‐year‐old female with undiagnosed thyroid goiter who received tPA for acute ischemic stroke and developed acute airway compromise. The surgical airway response team was called due to inability to ventilate or intubate. An incision into the mass during attempted tracheotomy released colloid and blood, decompressing the airway and facilitating ventilation and intubation.
