Acute upper limb ischemia as a complication of tunneled hemodialysis catheter placement via the right internal jugular vein
J Vasc Access. 2021 May 7:11297298211015041. doi: 10.1177/11297298211015041. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTArterial injury during internal jugular vein cannulation can cause devastating complications such as stroke, hematoma, hemothorax, pseudoaneurysm, AV fistula, or even death. Acute upper limb ischemia caused by inadvertent arterial puncture during internal jugular vein cannulation has been rarely reported. The present report describes the case of a patient who experienced right upper limb ischemia caused by subclavian artery thrombosis developed during attempted placement of a tunneled hemodialysis catheter via the rig...

O-002 Trevo registry: sub-group analysis of passes and devices needed to achieve recanalization
Conclusions The Trevo Retriever Registry represents the first look at real world data with stent retriever use in the era of clinical trials showing the overwhelming benefit of stent retrievers to treat acute ischemic stroke. This data represents real world use of the Trevo Retriever in regards to the typical number of passes and devices required for recanalization. Disclosures M. Binning: None. E. Multicenter clinical experience in over 125 patients with the Penumbra Separator 3D for mechanical thrombectomy in acute ischemic stroke
Conclusions The results suggest that the Separator 3D enables safe and effective revascularization of occluded large arteries in acute stroke intervention, leading to a high rate of functional independence at 90 days.

Iatrogenesis imperfecta: stroke caused by accidental carotid artery catheterization.
CONCLUSION:: Even with ultrasound-guided central venous catheterization, it is essential to remain vigilant for the early detection of vascular complications. Clinical suspicion combined with diagnostic modalities such as chest radiograph, transduction and manometry can increase the detection rates. PMID: 25041919 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Arterial Closure Devices for Treatment of Inadvertent Large-Caliber Catheter Insertion Into the Subclavian or Carotid Artery: A Case Series of Five Patients
CENTRAL VENOUS CATHETERIZATION is a common procedure in today`s medicine. Iatrogenic complications occur in up to 34% of catheter placements including 5% of arterial puncture. A variety of complications by arterial puncture have recently been described, including airway obstruction, pseudoaneurysms, arteriovenous fistulas, and even stroke caused by arterial thrombosis or embolization. Although 2-D ultrasound assisted insertion of large central venous catheters may reduce adverse events, it might not be available in an emergency setting, and the use of ultrasound guidance requires training. Depending on anatomic localizatio...
