The onset of cerebral infarction may be affected by differences in atmospheric pressure distribution patterns
ConclusionsCerebral embolism and cerebral thrombosis exhibited significant differences in APDPs on the day of onset. Dehydration particularly in the other high-pressure type or in the anticyclone belt type should be prevented. Further investigation should focus on the other meteorological factors.

Improving door-to-reperfusion time in acute ischemic stroke during the COVID-19 pandemic: experience from a public comprehensive stroke center in Brazil
ConclusionAcute stroke care continued to be a priority despite the COVID-19 pandemic. The implementation of a thrombolytic bolus and the start of continuous infusion on the CT scan table was the main factor that contributed to the reduction of DNT. Continuous monitoring of service times is essential for improving the quality of the stroke center and achieving better functional outcomes for patients.

Sex differences in acute telestroke care: more to the story
ConclusionWhile treatment differences between sexes existed in the data and were apparent in univariate analysis, no significant difference was seen in multivariate analysis once stroke risk factors, age, NIHSS score and admitting diagnosis were taken into consideration in the telestroke setting. Differences in rates of thrombolysis between sexes may therefore be reflective of differences in risk factors and symptomatology rather than a healthcare disparity.

Rescue therapy after thrombectomy for large vessel occlusion due to underlying atherosclerosis: review of literature
In this review article, we summarized the current advances in rescue management for reperfusion therapy of acute ischemic stroke from large vessel occlusion due to underlying intracranial atherosclerotic stenosis (ICAS). It is estimated that 24–47% of patients with acute vertebrobasilar artery occlusion have underlying ICAS and superimposed in situ thrombosis. These patients have been found to have longer procedure times, lower recanalization rates, higher rates of reocclusion and lower rates of favorable outcomes than patients with embolic occlusion. Functional and technical outcomes in acute ischemic stroke patients with hyperdense middle cerebral artery sign treated with endovascular thrombectomy
ConclusionPatients with HMCAS treated with EVT do not have a worse outcome at 3  months compared with no-HMCAS patients. Patients with HMCAS required a greater number of thrombus passes and longer procedure times.

The efficacy of stereotactic minimally invasive thrombolysis at different catheter positions in the treatment of small- and medium-volume basal ganglia hemorrhage (SMITDCP I): a randomized, controlled, and blinded endpoint phase 1 trial
ConclusionStereotactic minimally invasive puncture combined with urokinase for the treatment of small- and medium-volume hemorrhage in the basal ganglia, including catheterization through the long axis of the hematoma, led to significantly better drainage effects and fewer complications. However, there was no significant difference in short-term NIHSS scores between the two types of catheterization.

Predictors of deep-vein thrombosis for acute stroke at admission to a rehabilitation unit: A retrospective study
ConclusionOlder age, lower BBS, and higher D-dimer levels at rehabilitation admission were independent risk factors for DVT. Therefore, ultrasonography should be performed for those patients with these three significant factors before implementing rehabilitation therapy.

DIA-based technology explores hub pathways and biomarkers of neurological recovery in ischemic stroke after rehabilitation
ConclusionComplement-related pathways, lipoprotein-related functions and effects, thrombosis and hemostasis, coronavirus disease (COVID-19), and inflammation and immunity pathways are not only key pathways in the pathogenesis of ischemic stroke but also the main pathways of action of rehabilitation therapy. In addition, IGHA1, LRG1, IGHV3-64D, and CP are upregulated in patients with ischemic stroke and downregulated after rehabilitation, which may be used as biomarkers to monitor neurological impairment and recovery after stroke.

Combination of platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio and D-dimer for the identification of cardiogenic cerebral embolism in non-valvular atrial fibrillation
ConclusionsThe PLR and D-dimer represent an aggravated process of inflammation and thrombosis in the occurrence of CCE after NVAF. The combination of these two risk factors can contribute to identifying the risk of CCE for patients with NVAF with an accuracy of 93.4%, and the greater in change of composite indicator, the shorter in the recurrence of CCE for NVAF patients.

Predictors and long-term outcome of intracranial hemorrhage after thrombolytic therapy for acute ischemic stroke —A prospective single-center study
DiscussionOlder age, higher NIHSS, large vessel occlusion, and intra-arterial thrombolysis may correlate with ICH. The unfavorable outcome is more common in patients with ICH. Precise scoring of post-thrombolysis bleeding might be a useful tool in the evaluation of the patient's prognosis. Our findings may help to identify predictors and estimate the prognosis of ICH in patients with AIS treated with rt-PA.

S100b in acute ischemic stroke clots is a biomarker for post-thrombectomy intracranial hemorrhages
ConclusionsHigher S100b expression in AIS clots, higher NIHSS at admission and higher number of passes during thrombectomy are all associated with PTIH. Further investigation of S100b expression in AIS clots by neutrophils, macrophages and T-lymphocytes could provide insight into the role of S100b in thromboinflammation.
