A meta-analysis evaluating efficacy and safety of colchicine for prevention of major cardiovascular events in patients with coronary artery disease
ConclusionsColchicine is an effective, relatively safe drug that could be considered for the treatment of CAD. However, we need to pay attention to the increasing occurrence of non-cardiovascular mortality and infection especially pneumonia possibly caused by colchicine.Graphical abstractEfficacy and safety of colchicine for patients with CAD.CAD coronary artery disease;RCTs randomized controlled trials;OR odds ratio;MACEs major adverse cardiovascular events;ACS acute coronary syndrome;NNT number needed to treat;NNH number needed to harm

Initial therapeutic anticoagulation with rivaroxaban compared to prophylactic therapy with heparins in moderate to severe COVID-19: results of the COVID-PREVENT randomized controlled trial
ConclusionsTherapeutic anticoagulation with rivaroxaban compared to prophylactic anticoagulation with a heparin did not improve surrogates of clinical outcome in patients with moderate to severe COVID-19. Whether initial rivaroxaban at therapeutic doses might be superior to thromboprophylaxis in patients with COVID-19 and a high risk as defined byd-dimer  >  2 ULN needs confirmation in further studies.Graphical abstract

Features and outcomes of bailout repeat transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI): the Bailout Acute TAVI-in-TAVI to Lessen Events (BATTLE) international registry
ConclusionsBail-out TAVI-in-TAVI is associated with significant early and long-term mortality and morbidity. Thus, meticulous preprocedural planning and sophisticated intraprocedural techniques are of paramount importance to avoid these emergency procedures.

Contemporary incidence and predictors of left ventricular thrombus in patients with anterior acute myocardial infarction
ConclusionsThe risk of LVT after anterior AMI with new-onset wall motion abnormalities is low, but this complication remains present in the contemporary era of timely pPCI and potent  dual antiplatelet therapy .

Heterogeneity of outcomes within diabetic patients with atrial fibrillation on edoxaban: a sub-analysis from the ETNA-AF Europe registry
ConclusionsIn a real-world cohort of AF patients on edoxaban, diabetes requiring insulin therapy, rather than the presence of diabetes per se, appears to be an independent factor affecting the occurrence of thromboembolic events during follow-up. Regardless of the diabetes type, diabetic patients had a lower survival compared with those without diabetes.Graphical abstract

Ticagrelor or prasugrel in patients with acute coronary syndrome with off-hour versus on-hour presentation: a subgroup analysis of the ISAR-REACT 5 trial
ConclusionsIn patients with ACS planned to undergo an invasive treatment strategy, time of presentation (off-hours vs. on-hours) does not interact significantly with the relative efficacy and safety of ticagrelor vs. prasugrel.Clinical trial registration.NCT01944800.Graphical abstract

Coronary artery bypass grafting versus stent implantation in patients with chronic coronary syndrome and left main disease: insights from a register throughout Germany
ConclusionLeft main stenting is a safe and effective treatment option for CCS-patients suffering from left main coronary artery disease at reasonable economic cost.Graphic abstractCoronary artery bypass grafting versus stent implantation in patients with chronic coronary syndrome and left main disease: insights from a register throughout Germany. All cases with chronic coronary syndrome and left main stenosis treated in 2018 in Germany either with left main stenting or coronary bypass grafting were extracted from a nation-wide database. In-hospital outcomes were compared after logistic regression analysis.

Impact of atrial fibrillation pattern on outcomes after left atrial appendage closure: lessons from the prospective LAARGE registry
ConclusionAtrial fibrillation type did not impair periprocedural safety or in-hospital MACE patients undergoing LAAC. However, after one year, NPAF was associated with higher mortality.Graphic abstract

Impact of early ablation of atrial fibrillation on long-term outcomes: results from phase II/III of the GLORIA-AF registry
ConclusionsEarly AF ablation in a contemporary prospective cohort of AF patients who were predominantly treated with NOACs was associated with a survival advantage compared to medical therapy alone.Trial registrationClinical trial registration:http://www.clinicaltrials.gov.
