Transplantation of endothelial progenitor cells improves myocardial hypertrophy in spontaneously hypertensive rats through HO-1/CREB3/AKT axis
Arch Biochem Biophys. 2023 Sep 6;746:109739. doi: 10.1016/j.abb.2023.109739. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTHypertensive myocardial hypertrophy produces a hostile microenvironment characterized by cardiomyocyte hypertrophy, inflammation and oxidative stress, which also leads to endothelial progenitor cells (EPCs) dysfunction, preventing EPC migration, adhesion and angiogenesis. Heme oxygenase-1 (HO-1) is an intracellular protein that plays an important role in angiogenesis and cell survival. The upregulation of cAMP response element-binding protein 3 (CREB3) is closely related to the formation of endothelial cells. The purp...

Toll-interacting protein may affect doxorubicin resistance in hepatocellular carcinoma cell lines
CONCLUSIONS: Our results showed for the first time that silencing TOLLIP in hepatocellular carcinoma cells may help sensitize these cells to doxorubicin and increase the efficacy of chemotherapeutic regimens where doxorubicin is used.PMID:37644370 | DOI:10.1007/s11033-023-08737-2

Pharmacokinetics and Pharmacodynamics of Patisiran in Patients with hATTR Amyloidosis and with Polyneuropathy After Liver Transplantation
ConclusionsThe consistency of patisiran PK and PD between patients with and without LT suggests that neither LT nor concomitantly administered immunosuppressants influence hepatic uptake or RNAi activity of patisiran. The patisiran dosing regimen of 0.3 mg/kg q3w is appropriate for hATTR amyloidosis patients with or without LT.Clinical Trial Registration NoNCT03862807.

New and future therapies: Changes in the therapeutic armamentarium for SLE
Best Pract Res Clin Rheumatol. 2023 Aug 24:101865. doi: 10.1016/j.berh.2023.101865. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTFollowing better understanding of molecular pathways involved in the pathogenesis of Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), pharmaceutical companies have been investigating new targeted drugs for SLE. The purpose of this scoping review is to provide an updated view of the most promising targeted therapies currently in clinical development or recently approved for SLE treatment as well as of the most promising potential future therapeutic strategies in SLE. In the past several years, two new drugs have been develop...

Extracellular Vesicles and Ischemic Cardiovascular Diseases
Adv Exp Med Biol. 2023;1418:57-68. doi: 10.1007/978-981-99-1443-2_4.ABSTRACTCharacterized by coronary artery obstruction or stenosis, ischemic cardiovascular diseases as advanced stages of coronary heart diseases commonly lead to left ventricular aneurysm, ventricular septal defect, and mitral insufficiency. Extracellular vesicles (EVs) secreted by diverse cells in the body exert roles in cell-cell interactions and intrinsic cellular regulations. With a lipid double-layer membrane and biological components such as DNA, protein, mRNA, microRNAs (miRNA), and siRNA inside, the EVs function as paracrine signaling for the patho...

Asiatic acid alleviates cisplatin-induced renal fibrosis in tumor-bearing mice by improving the TFEB-mediated autophagy-lysosome pathway
Biomed Pharmacother. 2023 Jul 4;165:115122. doi: 10.1016/j.biopha.2023.115122. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTNephrotoxicity is a major side effect of cisplatin treatment of solid tumors in the clinical setting. Long-term low-dose cisplatin administration causes renal fibrosis and inflammation. However, few specific medicines with clinical application value have been developed to reduce or treat the nephrotoxic side effects of cisplatin without affecting its tumor-killing effect. The present study analyzed the potential reno-protective effect and mechanism of asiatic acid (AA) in long-term cisplatin-treated nude mice suffer...

Long Non-coding RNA LINC00342 Promotes the Proliferation, Invasion, and Migration of Primary Hepatocellular Carcinoma Cells by Regulating the Expression of miRNA-19a-3p, miRNA-545-5p, and miRNA-203a-3p
This study aimed to investigate the role of the long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) LINC00342-207 (LINC00342) in the development and progression of primary hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Forty-two surgically resected HCC tissues and corresponding paracancerous tissues were collected from October 2019 to December 2020 and examined for lncRNA LINC00342, microRNA (miR)-19a-3p, miR-545-5p, miR-203a-3p, cell cycle protein D1 (CyclinD1/CCND1), murine double minute 2 (MDM2), and fibroblast growth factor 2 (FGF2) expression. The disease-free survival and overall survival of patients with HCC were followed up. HCC cell lines and the norm...
