Ginsenoside Rd attenuates myocardial ischemia injury through improving mitochondrial biogenesis via WNT5A/Ca < sup > 2+ < /sup > pathways
Eur J Pharmacol. 2023 Sep 1;957:176044. doi: 10.1016/j.ejphar.2023.176044. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTGinsenoside Rd, one of the main active components in ginseng, exerts various biological activities. However, its effectiveness on myocardial ischemia injury and its potential mechanism need further clarification. The model of isoproterenol (ISO)-induced myocardial ischemia injury (MI) mice and cobalt chloride (CoCl2)-induced cardiomyocytes injury were performed. Ginsenoside Rd significantly alleviated MI injury, as evidenced by ameliorated cardiac pathological features and improved cardiac function. Simultaneously, gins...

NDRG1 is expressed in human granulosa cells: An implicative role of NDRG1 in the ovary
CONCLUSIONS: These results indicate that ovarian NDRG1 may play important roles in follicular development, especially in the early luteinization of pre-ovulatory follicles.PMID:35386369 | PMC:PMC8967294 | DOI:10.1002/rmb2.12437

Activation of NLRP3 inflammasome in hepatocytes after exposure to cobalt nanoparticles: The role of oxidative stress.
Abstract With the increased use of nanomaterials and increased exposure of humans to various nanomaterials, the potential health effects of nanomaterials cannot be ignored. The hepatotoxicity of cobalt nanoparticles (Nano-Co) is largely unknown and the underlying mechanisms remain obscure. The purpose of this study was to exam the hepatotoxicity induced by Nano-Co and its potential mechanisms. Our results showed that exposure of human fetal hepatocytes L02 to Nano-Co caused a dose- and a time-dependent cytotoxicity. Besides the generation of reactive oxygen species (ROS) and mitochondrial reactive oxygen species (...

HIF ‑1α affects trophoblastic apoptosis involved in the onset of preeclampsia by regulating FOXO3a under hypoxic conditions.
HIF‑1α affects trophoblastic apoptosis involved in the onset of preeclampsia by regulating FOXO3a under hypoxic conditions. Mol Med Rep. 2020 Apr 01;: Authors: Zhang Z, Huang C, Wang P, Gao J, Liu X, Li Y, Yan S, Shi Y Abstract Preeclampsia (PE) is a pregnancy-specific syndrome that has severe implications on perinatal mortality and morbidity. Excessive apoptosis of trophoblasts induced by hypoxia may be associated with the development of PE, but the exact pathogenesis is unknown. Forkhead box O transcription factor 3a (FOXO3a) is activated under hypoxic conditions. Furthermore, hypoxia‑inducib...

Involvement of hypoxia-inducible factor-1 alpha in the upregulation of P-glycoprotein in refractory epilepsy
To explore the involvement of hypoxia-inducible factor-1 alpha (HIF-1α) in the upregulation of P-glycoprotein (P-gp) in refractory epilepsy. Brain tissue specimens were collected and analyzed for expression of HIF-1α and P-gp using an immunohistochemical (IHC) staining method in both refractory epilepsy group and control group. Correlation between HIF-1α and P-gp expression level in refractory epilepsy group was analyzed. Then, a hypoxia cell model was established by simulating the nerve cell hypoxic microenvironment in the human U251 cell line using cobalt chloride (CoCl2). Western blot analysis was used to detect expr...
