Islr regulates insulin sensitivity by interacting with Psma4 to control insulin receptor alpha levels in obese mice
Int J Biochem Cell Biol. 2023 Apr 26:106420. doi: 10.1016/j.biocel.2023.106420. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTInsulin resistance is the leading cause of type 2 diabetes (T2D), and dysfunctional insulin receptor signaling is a major manifestation of this insulin resistance. In T2D, the corresponding insulin receptor levels are aberrantly down-regulated, which is one of the major factors underlying obesity-induced insulin resistance in adipose tissue. However, the precise mechanism of insulin receptor impairment in obese individuals remains unclear. In the current study, we established that immunoglobulin superfamily contain...

Function of connexin 43 and RhoA/LIMK2/Cofilin signaling pathway in transient changes of contraction and dilation of human umbilical arterial smooth muscle cells
CONCLUSION: The function of Cx43-GJs lies in the center of Ang Ⅱ-induced contraction of HUASMCs, which potentially regulates intracellular Ca2+ mobility as well as RhoA/LIMK2/Cofilin signaling pathway activity. Propofol can reverse this effect induced by Ang Ⅱ through suppressing the function of Cx43-GJs.PMID:36330887 | DOI:10.1016/j.biocel.2022.106326

HIF-1 α and Nrf2 regulates hypoxia induced overexpression of DDAH1 through promoter activation in prostate cancer
In this study, we investigated the molecular mechanism involved in the overexpression of DDAH1 in PCa and examined its potential role as a therapeutic target. We observed that DDAH1expression is elevated in PCa (PC3, LNCaP, and DU145) cell lines under hypoxia. ChIP and reporter assay results confirmed that DDAH1 expression is positively regulated by HIF-1α through directly binding to the hypoxia response elements (HRE) located within the promoter region between - 1242/- 1238 upstream of its transcription start site (TSS). Under hypoxia, HIF-1α is translocated into the nucleus and activates its target gene expression in P...

AKT serine/threonine kinase 2-mediated phosphorylation of fascin threonine 403 regulates esophageal cancer progression
Int J Biochem Cell Biol. 2022 Feb 24;145:106188. doi: 10.1016/j.biocel.2022.106188. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTFascin is the main actin-bundling protein in filopodia and is highly expressed in metastatic tumor cells. The overexpression of Fascin has been associated with poor clinical prognosis and metastatic progression. Post-translational modifications of Fascin, such as phosphorylation, can affect the proliferation and invasion of tumor cells by regulating the actin-bundling activity of Fascin. However, the phosphorylation sites of Fascin and their corresponding kinases require further exploration. In the current stud...
