High Expressions of CUL4A and TP53 in Colorectal Cancer Predict Poor Survival
Conclusion: CUL4A expression correlated positively with the prognosis of colorectal cancer. Mechanistically, ZEB1 was confirmed to mediate the function of CUL4A in regulating the EMT. The assessment of both CUL4A and mutant TP53 expression will be helpful in predicting colon cancer prognosis.Cell Physiol Biochem 2018;51:2829 –2842

Intermittent-Hypoxia-Induced Autophagy Activation Through the ER-Stress-Related PERK/eIF2 α/ATF4 Pathway is a Protective Response to Pancreatic β-Cell Apoptosis
Conclusion: IH induces autophagy activation through the ER-stress-related PERK/eIF2 α/ATF4 signaling pathway, which is a protective response to pancreatic β-cell apoptosis caused by IH.Cell Physiol Biochem 2018;51:2955 –2971

Resveratrol Ameliorates Lipid Droplet Accumulation in Liver Through a SIRT1/ ATF6-Dependent Mechanism
Conclusion: Taken together, these findings indicate that RSV supplementation improves hepatic steatosis by ameliorating the accumulation of LDs, and this might be partially mediated by a SIRT1/ATF6-dependent mechanism.Cell Physiol Biochem 2018;51:2397 –2420

Mammalian STE20-Like Kinase 1 Deletion Alleviates Renal Ischaemia-Reperfusion Injury via Modulating Mitophagy and the AMPK-YAP Signalling Pathway
Conclusion: Overall, our results demonstrate that the pathogenesis of renal I/R injury is closely associated with an increase in Mst1 expression and the inactive AMPK-YAP-OPA1 signalling pathway. Based on this, strategies to repress Mst1 expression and activate mitophagy could serve as therapeutic targets to treat kidney ischaemia-reperfusion injury.Cell Physiol Biochem 2018;51:2359 –2376

Simvastatin Protects Dopaminergic Neurons Against MPP < sup > + < /sup > -Induced Oxidative Stress and Regulates the Endogenous Anti-Oxidant System Through ERK
Conclusion: Our results provide strong evidence that ERK1/2-mediated modulation of the anti-oxidant system after simvastatin treatment may partially explain the anti-oxidant activity in experimental parkinsonian models. These findings contribute to a better understanding of the critical roles of simvastatin via the ERK1/2-mediated modulation of the anti-oxidant system, which may be relevant for treating PD.Cell Physiol Biochem 2018;51:1957 –1968

B-Cell Receptor-Associated Protein 31 Regulates the Expression of Valosin-Containing Protein Through Elf2
Conclusion: These results indicate that Bap31 regulates the expression of VCP possibly via Elf2 and support the potential molecular function of Bap31 in CNS diseases.Cell Physiol Biochem 2018;51:1799 –1814

Ectodomain Shedding of RAGE and TLR4 as a Negative Feedback Regulation in High-Mobility Group Box 1-Activated Aortic Endothelial Cells
Conclusion: In response to HMGB1 stimulation, HAECs rapidly undergo ectodomain shedding of RAGE and TLR4, and thereby become insensitive to further HMGB1 stimulation. ADAM17, activated through RAGE-p38 MAPK pathway, is implicated in the ectodomain cleavage of the receptors.Cell Physiol Biochem 2018;51:1632 –1644

microRNA-29a-3p, Up-Regulated in Human Gastric Cells and Tissues with < b > < i > H.Pylori < /i > < /b > Infection, Promotes the Migration of GES-1 Cells via A20-Mediated EMT Pathway
Conclusion: The miR-29a-3p may act as a tumor promotive miRNA by regulating cells migration through directly targeting of A20 gene in human gastric epithelial cells infected withH.pylori.Cell Physiol Biochem 2018;51:1250 –1263

Ginsenoside 20(S)-Rg3 Prevents PKM2-Targeting miR-324-5p from H19 Sponging to Antagonize the Warburg Effect in Ovarian Cancer Cells
Conclusion: Our study revealed that 20(S)-Rg3 blocked the competitive inhibition of H19 on miR-324-5p, which enhanced the suppression of miR-324-5p on PKM2 and therefore inhibited the Warburg effect and repressed tumorigenesis. In a word, 20(S)-Rg3 inhibited the Warburg effect in ovarian cancer cells via H19/miR-324-5p/PKM2 pathway.Cell Physiol Biochem 2018;51:1340 –1353

Nuclear Translocation of Argonaute 2 in Cytokine-Induced Senescence
Conclusion: IFN- γ and TNF induce a stable cell cycle arrest of cancer cells that is accompanied by a fast nuclear Ago2 translocation and repression of Ago2-regulated cell cycle control genes. As Ago2 downregulation impairs cytokine-induced growth regulation, Ago2 may contribute to tissue homeostasis in human cance rs.Cell Physiol Biochem 2018;51:1103 –1118
