Expression, distribution and function of kinin B1 receptor in the rat diabetic retina
Conclusion and ImplicationsThis study supports a detrimental role for kinin B1R on endothelial and glial cells in acute and advanced phases of DR. Topical application of the peptide kinin B1R antagonist R‐954 appears a feasible therapeutic approach in the treatment of DR.

G α12 facilitates shortening in human airway smooth muscle by modulating phosphoinositide 3‐kinase‐mediated activation in a RhoA‐dependent manner
Conclusions and ImplicationsGα12 plays a crucial role in HASMC contraction via RhoA‐dependent activation of the PI3K/ROCK axis. Inhibition of RhoA activation induces bronchodilation in hPCLS, and targeting Gα12 signaling may elucidate novel therapeutic targets in asthma. These findings provide alternative approaches to the clinical management of airway obstruction in asthma.

GPR35 mediates lodoxamide ‐induced migration inhibitory response but not CXCL17‐induced migration stimulatory response in THP‐1 cells; Is GPR35 a receptor for CXCL17?
Abstract GPR35 has long been considered an orphan G protein‐couple receptor, and although no endogenous ligand of GPR35 has been discovered, synthetic agonists and antagonists have been developed. CXCL17 (a chemokine) has been reported to be an endogenous ligand of GPR35, and it has even been suggested that it be called CXCR8 (Journal of Immunology 2015; 194:29‐33). However, no supporting report on the CXCL17‐GPR35 relation has been issued since, although GPR35 is supposed to be a potential therapeutic target in several pathologic conditions. In the present study, we applied two assay systems to explore the relations...

G α12 Facilitates Carbachol‐Induced Shortening in Human Airway Smooth Muscle By Modulating Phosphoinositide 3‐Kinase‐Mediated Activation In A RhoA‐Dependent Manner
CONCLUSION AND IMPLICATIONSGα12 plays a crucial role in HASMC contraction via RhoA‐dependent activation of the PI3K/ROCK axis. Inhibition of RhoA activation induces bronchodilation in hPCLS, and targeting Gα12 signaling may elucidate novel therapeutic targets in asthma. Taken together, these findings provide alternative approaches to the clinical management of airway obstruction in asthma.

WMJ ‐8‐B, a novel hydroxamate derivative, induces MDA‐MB‐231 breast cancer cell death via SHP‐1‐STAT3‐survivin cascade
Conclusions and ImplicationsWMJ‐8‐B‐induced MDA‐MB‐231 breast cancer cell death involves SHP‐1‐STAT3‐survivin and Sp1‐p21 cascades. These results also support the role of WMJ‐8‐B as a potential lead compound and warrant the clinical development in the treatment of breast cancer.

Recent Advances in the Development of T ‐type Calcium Channel Blockers for Pain Intervention
Abstract Cav3.2 T‐type calcium channels are important regulators of pain signals in afferent pain pathway, and their activities are dysregulated during various chronic pain states. Therefore it stands to reason that inhibiting T‐type calcium channels in dorsal root ganglion neurons and in the spinal dorsal horn can be targeted for pain relief. This is supported by early pharmacological studies with T‐type channel blockers such as ethosuximide, and by analgesic effects of siRNA depletion of Cav3.2 channels. In the past five years, considerable effort has been applied towards identifying novel classes of T‐type calci...

The isoprenoid derivative N6 ‐benzyladenosine CM223 exerts antitumor effects in glioma patient‐derived primary cells through the mevalonate pathway
Conclusion and ImplicationsThe biological effects together with structural data on interaction of CM223 with FPPS, provided additional evidence for the correlation of the i6A/CM223 antitumor activity with FPPS modulation. Because the MVA pathway is an important promising target, CM223 and its derivatives should be considered interesting active molecules in antiglioma research.

Protein phosphatase 2A regulation of markers of extracellular matrix remodelling in hepatocellular carcinoma cells: functional consequences for tumour invasion
Conclusion and ImplicationsOA increased MMP‐9 by decreasing PP2A activity and PP2Ac, through AP‐1 binding sites on the MMP‐9 promoter. The functional consequence of this and CIP2A overexpression was increased cell migration. Hence, PP2A inhibition induced a metastatic phenotype through alterations in MMP‐9 in Hep3B cells.
