The impact of transcription factor Fli1 deficiency on the regulation of angiogenesis
Abstract The insufficiency of Friend leukaemia virus integration 1 (Fli1), a member of the Ets family transcription factors, is implicated in the pathogenesis of vasculopathy associated with systemic sclerosis (SSc). Fli1 deficiency accelerates early steps of angiogenesis, including detachment of pre‐existing pericytes and extracellular matrix degradation by endothelial proteinases, but the impact of Fli1 deficiency on the other steps of angiogenesis has not been investigated. Therefore, we evaluated the effect of Fli1 deficiency on migration, proliferation, cell survival and tube formation of human dermal microvascular ...

Melanocyte ‐protective effect of afzelin is mediated by the Nrf2‐ARE signalling pathway via GSK‐3β inactivation
Abstract Vitiligo is an acquired condition characterized by depigmented, cutaneous lesions that result from the death of pigment‐producing cells, melanocytes. The occurrence of oxidative stress has been proposed as a pathogenetic mechanism for melanocyte degeneration in vitiligo. Therefore, in this study, we investigated the cytoprotective effects of afzelin against oxidative stress and its mechanism of action in human epidermal melanocytes. We found that afzelin significantly inhibited hydrogen peroxide‐induced cell death, cellular reactive oxygen species production and lipid peroxidation in melanocytes. In an antioxi...

Epidermal keratinocytes sense dsRNA via the NLRP3 inflammasome, mediating interleukin (IL) ‐1β and IL‐18 release
In conclusion, the NLRP3 inflammasome can act as a sensor of dsRNA in epidermal keratinocytes, which may be important in both skin innate immune defense against viral infection and skin inflammation. This article is protected by copyright. All rights reserved.
