Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS ®) Consensus Recommendations for Neonatal Perioperative Pain Assessment, Education, and Management
Background: Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS ®) guidelines have been successfully used in a variety of adult and pediatric surgical specialties. However, neonates have unique physiological and social perioperative needs which warrant specialized protocols. We developed neonatal pain assessment, education, and management consensus recommendati ons to inform future neonatal guidelines, enhance quality of care, and improve perioperative pain management for neonates.

Thoracic epidural analgesia versus wound catheter plus intra-thecal opiate for open liver resections as part of a comprehensive ERAS pathway.
Background: Thoracic epidurals have long been the gold standard for post-operative pain relief, but with concerns of side effects such as hypotension and reduced mobility, there has been a recent move away from them in favour of trunk blocks. We have recently introduced wound catheters and intra-thecal opiate as part of our well-established ERAS pathway. We sought to evaluate the efficacy of this technique.

Average wRVUs West Coast?
I am looking to relocate to California. I was recently offered a position at a hospital, production only model with an offer of 62 dollars per wRVU. Anyone have average dollar per RVU data for California? I was only able to find MGMA data from 2018, nothing more recent. Thank you!

Bone reconstruction with vascularized free fibula in the treatment of osteomyelitis of the distal radius: a case series
Abstract Osteomyelitis of the distal radius and wrist with bone defect presents a reconstructive challenge. Free fibula grafts have been successfully used in post tumor resection reconstruction of the wrist. We applied these techniques to the reconstruction of wrist adjacent osteomyelitis associated bone defects and report on the feasibility of the technique in this context. We retrospectively evaluated 4 patients treated from January 2009 to February 2017 with a free fibular osteocutaneous flap for distal radius osteomyelitis. Previous operations, defect size, time of operation, type of fixation, complete bone union, an...

Cancers, Vol. 15, Pages 4664: Proximal Tibia Tumour Location and Curettage Are Major Risk Factors of Local Recurrence in Giant Cell Tumour of Bone
Pazourek Giant cell tumour of bone (GCTB) is one of the most common local aggressive tumourous lesions with a wide variety of biological behaviour. However, there are no clear indicative criteria when choosing the type of procedure and the complication rates remain high, especially in terms of local recurrence. The purpose of the study was to (1) identify the main risk factors for local recurrence, (2) evaluate the recurrence-free survival in dependence on neoadjuvant denosumab use and the type of procedure, and (3) compare the functional outcomes after curettage and en bloc resection. The group included 102 patients w...

Nalbuphine as analgesic in preschool children undergoing ophthalmic surgery and the occurrence of emergence delirium
Conclusion Nalbuphine shows a sufficient analgesic effect for pain therapy following ophthalmic surgery in preschool children. Nalbuphine seems to reduce the incidence of EDA in children undergoing ophthalmic surgery.

C-reactive protein (CRP) is associated with chronic pain independently of biopsychosocial factors
Inflammation is linked with chronic pain but the extent to which this relationship is associated with biopsychosocial factors is not known. We investigated relationships between blood C-reactive protein (CRP) and regional chronic pain conditions adjusting for a large range and number of potential confounders. We performed cross-sectional analyses using the UK Biobank (N=415,567) comparing CRP in people reporting any of nine types of regional chronic pain with pain-free controls. Using logistic regression modelling, we explored relationships between CRP and the presence of chronic pain, with demographic, socioeconomic, psyc...

Tapentadol versus Oxycodone for Opioid-related Adverse Drug Events and Clinical Outcomes After Inpatient Surgery
Oxycodone is a commonly prescribed opioid for postoperative pain. However, there has been a marked increase in the use of tapentadol over the previous decade due to a perceived superior safety profile of tapentadol compared to oxycodone. There is limited real-world evidence on the safety of tapentadol compared to oxycodone after surgery. The primary objective was to examine the impact of tapentadol compared to oxycodone use on the incidence of opioid-related adverse drug events after surgery. Data for adult surgical patients receiving tapentadol or oxycodone during hospitalisation between 1 January 2018 and 31 December 202...

Sensors, Vol. 23, Pages 8001: Deep-Learning-Aided Evaluation of Spondylolysis Imaged with Ultrashort Echo Time Magnetic Resonance Imaging
on C. Bae Isthmic spondylolysis results in fracture of pars interarticularis of the lumbar spine, found in as many as half of adolescent athletes with persistent low back pain. While computed tomography (CT) is the gold standard for the diagnosis of spondylolysis, the use of ionizing radiation near reproductive organs in young subjects is undesirable. While magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is preferable, it has lowered sensitivity for detecting the condition. Recently, it has been shown that ultrashort echo time (UTE) MRI can provide markedly improved bone contrast compared to conventional MRI. To take UTE MRI further,...

Research hotspots and trend analysis of abdominal pain in inflammatory bowel disease: A bibliometric and visualized analysis
This study provides the first bibliometric analysis of papers in this research area using visualization software and data information mining. It provides insights into this field's current status, hot spots, and trends. However, many outstanding issues in this research area still need further exploration to provide a theoretical basis for its clinical application.
