Treatment of Post Mastectomy Pain Syndrome after mastopexy with botulinum toxin
Post Mastectomy Pain Syndrome (PMPS) is a chronic pain condition, persisting for more than three months after breast surgery. Pain can result from any surgical procedure, but this syndrome is more commonly associated with radical mastectomy with axillary lymphadenectomy. The etiopathogenesis is not clear but the pain is typically neuropathic in nature, characterized as a dull, burning, and aching sensation exacerbated by movements of the shoulder girdle.
