The Current Status of Prolonged Breastfeeding and Its Related Factors in Korean Infants and Their Mothers: A Nationwide Cross-Sectional Study
CONCLUSIONS: In Korea, the long-term BF rate of ≥ 12 months has declined in the past 10 years, and BF becomes rare after 18 months. Higher maternal interest in nutrition information appears to be driving access to PBF over 12 months than EBF for 6 months or PBF over 18 months. To promote PBF over 12 months in Korea, it may be helpful to strengthen nutrition education that specifically emphasizes the benefits of PBF along with EBF, especially during infant health examinations.PMID:37605500 | PMC:PMC10442503 | DOI:10.3346/jkms.2023.38.e261

Quantitative impact of frenotomy on breastfeeding: a systematic review and meta-analysis
CONCLUSIONS: Providers should offer frenotomy to improve outcomes in dyads with ankyloglossia-associated breastfeeding difficulties.PROTOCOL REGISTRATION: PROSPERO identifier CRD42022303838 .IMPACT: This systematic review and meta-analysis showed that breastfeeding self-efficacy, maternal pain, infant latch, and infant gastroesophageal reflux significantly improve after frenotomy in mother-infant dyads with breastfeeding difficulties and ankyloglossia. Providers should offer frenotomy to improve breastfeeding outcomes in symptomatic mother-infant dyads who face challenges associated with ankyloglossia.PMID:37608056 | DOI:1...

Clinical spectrum & amp; changing presentation of celiac disease in Indian children
CONCLUSIONS: This was the largest single centre study, pertaining to the presentation and follow up of CD in children. Infants and young children were more likely to present with classical symptoms of diarrhoea, abdominal distension and growth failure while older children presented with non-classical CD. There was a trend towards non-classical forms of CD in recent years.PMID:37602589 | DOI:10.4103/ijmr.ijmr_1102_21

Relationship Between DDT Concentrations with Multiparity and Breastfeeding History
Bull Environ Contam Toxicol. 2023 Aug 21;111(3):27. doi: 10.1007/s00128-023-03785-7.ABSTRACTOrganochlorine pesticides are persistent organic pollutants (POPs) that can enter the body through environmental exposure and food consumption. The aim of this study was to investigate the influence of parity and breast milk consumption on dichlorodiphenyltrichloroethane (DDT) concentrations in women from Southern Mexico. Gas chromatography was used to detect o,p'-DDT, p,p'-DDT, and p,p'-dichlorodiphenyldichloroethylene (DDE) in milk samples. The frequency of detection of the compounds was above 78%, finding low median concentration...
