Mechanism of moxibustion in treating chronic inflammatory visceral pain: regulation of the p38 MAPK/ELK1 signaling pathway in the spinal cord
ConclusionHPM exerted analgesic effects via downregulating the mRNA and phosphorylated protein expression of ASK1, MKK3, p38 MAPK, and ELK1 in the spinal cord of CIVP rats. The inhibition of spinal p38 MAPK/ELK1 signaling pathway activation may be one of the mechanisms by which HPM relieves pain in CIVP. (Source: Journal of Acupuncture and Tuina Science)

Study of the mechanism of acupuncture and moxibustion in protecting the intestinal mucosal barrier in DSS-induced UC rats based on the IL-9/IL-9R pathway
ConclusionBoth HM and EA can inhibit the protein expression levels of IL-9 and IL-9R in the UC colon by regulating the transcription factor PU.1, promote the repair of intestinal mucosal barrier, and down-regulate protein contents of proinflammatory factors IL-9, IL-6, and IL-1 β in the serum, which may be one of the key mechanisms of acupuncture and moxibustion in reducing the inflammation of UC colonic mucosa and protecting the intestinal mucosal barrier. Acupuncture in cancer care: recommendations for safe practice (peer-reviewed expert opinion)
ConclusionThese are the first international, multidisciplinary peer-reviewed recommendations for safe acupuncture practice in integrative oncology. Concerns about safety remain a significant barrier to appropriate referral from oncology teams, to use by acupuncturists and to uptake by patients. Disseminating trustworthy, widely accessible guidance should facilitate informed, confident practice of acupuncture in and outside of oncology healthcare settings. (Source: Supportive Care in Cancer)

Clinical study of electroacupuncture on the recovery of gastrointestinal dysfunction after laparoscopic surgery for gastrointestinal cancer - study protocol for a randomized controlled trial
This study aims to evaluate the clinical effect of electroacupuncture for postoperative rapid recovery.METHODS: This study design is a two-arm, parallel, double-blinded randomized controlled trial. 104 subjects, aged from 40 to 89 years old, diagnosed with gastrointestinal cancer undergoing laparoscopic surgery, will be divided into Interventional Group and Control Group. Patients of both groups receive perioperative care under the guidance of ERAS guidance. The Interventional Group receives electroacupuncture treatment starting from the first day post-surgery for a consecutive 5 days, whereas the Control Group receives pl...

Efficacy comparison between acupuncture and other modalities in the treatment of rotator cuff diseases: meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials
CONCLUSION: Based on the current clinical data, meta-analysis showed that acupuncture alone or combined with physical therapy is efficacious for short- and medium-term (< 3 months) pain relief and functional improvements. However, compared to other interventions, the efficacy of the long-term (3 to 12 months) period did not significantly differ. After treatment, these modalities displayed advantages such as improved shoulder joint abduction, external rotation, and forward flexion movements. However, no significant difference was noted in internal rotation movement. Thus, future studies might further investigate whether ...
