Are WHO recommendations to perform two consecutive semen analyses for reliable diagnosis of male infertility still valid?
To evaluate whether a second semen analysis as suggested by the World Health Organization (WHO) Laboratory Manual for the Examination of Human Semen and Sperm-Cervical Mucus Interaction improves diagnostic reliability in the evaluation of male infertility. (Source: The Journal of Urology)

Information for Authors
The Journal of Urology ® contains 3 sections: Adult Urology, Pediatric Urology and Urological Survey. Original clinical and translational research studies will be considered for publication in the Adult and Pediatric Urology Sections. Translational research manuscripts must have a clear and proximate translation to patie nt care, and only preclinical scientific studies that have the direct potential to translate into new and improved standards of care will be reviewed. Clinical, pathologic, and oncologic findings of radical prostatectomy patients with extraprostatic extension diagnosed on pre-operative prostate biopsy
Prostatic adenocarcinoma (PCa) with extraprostatic extension (EPE) detected on prostate needle biopsy (PNB) is an uncommon finding. We aimed to describe the clinical and pathologic findings in a large cohort of PCa patients treated with radical prostatectomy (RP) who had EPE identified on PNB. (Source: The Journal of Urology)

From PADUA to RENAL score and vice versa: Development and validation of a mathematical converter
Tumor complexity remains the primary modality by which urologists determine surgical approach and treatment strategy. R.E.N.A.L. and PADUA scores are the most popularly used nephrometry systems. Notwithstanding the common items contributing to the scores, some differences exist between PADUA and R.E.N.A.L. systems, translating into a different final score when assessing the tumor complexity of a renal mass. This represents an issue during quantitative syntheses of literature data and in the setting of retrospective multicentric analyses. (Source: The Journal of Urology)

Robot-assisted laparoscopic reoperative repair for failed pyeloplasty in children: an updated series
Among children with recurrent obstruction after pyeloplasty, reoperative pyeloplasty is commonly utilized. We previously reported on reoperative robot-assisted laparoscopic repair for failed pyeloplasty in 16 children and concluded that short term and intermediate outcomes were comparable to open reoperative repair. This updated series reports on longer-term outcomes from an extended series. (Source: The Journal of Urology)

The prognostic value of the proportion/architectural patterns of intraductal carcinoma of the prostate (IDC-P) in patients with de novo metastatic prostate cancer
Intraductal carcinoma of the prostate (IDC-P) is an adverse prognosticator of prostate cancer (PCa). However, the roles of the IDC-P proportion and architectural patterns in patient outcomes remain unclear. (Source: The Journal of Urology)

Feasibility of a fully-implanted, nickel-sized and shaped tibial nerve stimulator for the treatment of overactive bladder syndrome with urgency urinary incontinence
We conducted a clinical feasibility trial to evaluate the safety and efficacy of a fully-implanted, primary battery-powered, nickel-sized and shaped neuromodulation device called the eCoinTM (Valencia Technologies Corp., Valencia, CA, USA) for tibial nerve stimulation to treat refractory urgency urinary incontinence. Emerging complications following alternative reservoir placement during inflatable penile prosthesis placement: a 5-year multi-institutional experience.
Alternative, or ectopic, reservoir placement (ARP) has recently gained popularity among prosthetic surgeons in order to avoid injury to pelvic structures during inflatable penile prosthesis (IPP) implantation. However, the true incidence of complications associated with these new techniques remain understudied. We carried out a 5-year multi-center retrospective study with the aim to evaluate complications related to alternative reservoir placement. (Source: The Journal of Urology)

Describing the Spectrum of Patient Reported Outcomes after Radical Prostatectomy: Providing Information to Improve Patient Counseling and Shared Decision Making
Preoperative counseling incorporating the best-case, worst-case, and most-likely outcome scenarios aid patients ’ decision making. This information is not readily available for prostate cancer counseling because most patient reported outcomes are presented as averages, which minimize individual patient experiences. Using the Expanded Prostate Index Composite (EPIC), we present data to characterize the best and worst-case after prostatectomy. (Source: The Journal of Urology)

Risk Prediction of Prostate Cancer with Single Nucleotide Polymorphisms (SNPs) and Prostate-Specific Antigen (PSA)
Combined information on single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) and prostate-specific antigen (PSA) offers opportunities for improving the performance of screening by risk stratification. We aimed to predict the risk of prostate cancer (PrCa) based on PSA together with SNPs information. (Source: The Journal of Urology)
