Uncollimated gamma camera measurements at two metres to the patient provide a practical and statistically robust method for SeHCAT retention calculation
[75Se]tauroselcholic acid (SeHCAT) retention studies may be performed using a collimated or uncollimated (intrinsic) gamma camera, with trade-offs between counting sensitivity, collision risk, and stray source influence. In this work, we evaluate the uncertainty in SeHCAT studies performed in ‘outer room’ mode, where the patient sits or stands two metres away from the uncollimated camera face. Bone metastases in prostate cancer – Gallium-68–labeled prostate-specific membrane antigen or Fluorine 18 sodium fluoride PET/computed tomography – the better tracer?
Conclusion Though, both 18F-NaF and 68Ga-PSMA are excellent tracers for evaluation of skeletal metastases in prostate cancer, there is a distinct advantage of 68Ga-PSMA PET/CT due to detection of additional skeletal lesions and absence of false positive lesions. In addition, absence of PSMA avidity in healed metastases in the restaging setting opens up new avenue for assessment of response of skeletal metastases. (Source: Nuclear Medicine Communications)

The prognostic relationship of 18F-FDG PET/CT metabolic and volumetric parameters in metastatic ALK + NSCLC
Conclusions Metabolic and volumetric parameters, especially TLG values in the whole body before treatment and change in whole body MTV value, obtained from PET/CT may be useful in predicting prognosis and determining treatment strategies for patients with advanced ALK + NSCLC. Value of dynamic metabolic curves and artificial neural network prediction models based on 18F-FDG PET/CT multiphase imaging in differentiating nonspecific solitary pulmonary lesions: a pilot study
Conclusions Dynamic metabolic curves showed varying characteristics for different lesions. Referring to these findings in clinical work may facilitate the differential diagnosis of nonspecific solitary pulmonary lesions. Establishing an artificial neural network prediction model would further improve diagnostic efficiency. (Source: Nuclear Medicine Communications)

Posttherapy technetium-99m pentavalent dimercaptosuccinic acid brain single-photon emission computed tomography/computed tomography: diagnostic and prognostic values in patients with glioma
Conclusion Posttherapy brain SPECT/CT scanning with 99mTc-DMSA-V is a noninvasive, reliable, and specific tool for evaluation of patients with brain glioma after definitive therapy. Scan positivity was associated with poor OS. (Source: Nuclear Medicine Communications)

Comparison of maximum and mean standardized uptake values of jaw pathologies with bone SPECT/CT: an especial focus on medication-related osteonecrosis of the jaw
Objectives To investigate the comparison of maximum and mean standardized uptake values (SUVs) of jaw pathologies with bone Single-photon emission computed tomography/computed tomography (SPECT/CT), and a special focus on medication-related osteonecrosis of the jaw (MRONJ). Methods Eighty-nine patients with jaw pathologies (63 MRONJ, 13 chronic osteomyelitis, 11 osteoradionecrosis and 2 primary intraosseous carcinoma) underwent bone SPECT/CT scans acquisition at 4 h after intravenous injection of Tc-99m hydroxymethylene diphosphonate in this prospective study. The evaluation of mean and maximum SUVs of jaw pat...

The utility of technetium-99m pertechnetate thyroid scintigraphy assessing thyroid/salivary ratio as an alternative to thyroid uptake percentage in evaluation of thyroid function, with establishing normal reference values of both parameters: single Egyptian center study
Background/Objective Management of thyroid disorders depends on accurate clinical assessment, appropriate investigations and radionuclide imaging, which plays an established important role either qualitatively or quantitatively. The aim of this study was to assess the utility of the thyroid/salivary ratio (TSR) as an alternative to technetium-99m (Tc99m) pertechnetate thyroid uptake (TcU) percentage in the evaluation of thyroid function and in the same time to establish reference range for the thyroid uptake of Tc99m-pertechnetate and TSR among Egyptian populations. Patients and methods This retrospective study ...

Current status of nuclear cardiology practice in Latin America and the Caribbean, in the era of multimodality cardiac imaging approach: 2022 update
Cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) are the leading cause of mortality in Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC), with the risk in men being slightly higher than in women. The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic caused a significant reduction in the number of cardiac diagnostic procedures globally and in particular in LAC. Nuclear cardiology is available in the region, but there is variability in terms of existing technology, radiopharmaceuticals, and human resources. In the region, there are 2385 single photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) and 315 PET scanners, Argentina and Brazil have the largest number. There...

The value of the SUV ratio between lymph node and bone marrow in predicting pelvic lymphatic metastasis of patients with locally advanced cervical cancer: an integrated PET/CT study
This study aimed to evaluate the value of the standardized uptake value (SUV) ratio between lymph nodes and bone marrow (BM) measured by Fluorine-18-fluorodeoxyglucose PET and computed tomography (18F-FDG PET/CT) for predicting pelvic lymph node (PLN) metastasis in patients with locally advanced cervical cancer (LACC). Materials and methods A total of 62 patients with pathological stage Ib-IVa cervical cancer who underwent 18F-FDG PET/CT before treatment were reviewed retrospectively. We measured the metabolic and morphological parameters of lymph nodes and primary tumors, bone marrow SUV (SUVBM) and calculated the ...

Comparing the diagnostic accuracy of PET and CMR for the measurement of left ventricular volumes and ejection fraction: a system review and meta-analysis
Background Cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) has been recognized as the gold standard for the evaluation of left ventricular (LV) function. Cardiac gated PET allows the simultaneous assessment of LV function with the evaluation of myocardial perfusion and metabolism. But the correlations between PET and CMR remain controversial. Methods We conducted a systematic electronic search of PubMed, Embase and the Cochrane Library. Forest plot, spearman correlation analysis and Bland-Altman analysis were used to evaluate the correlations between PET and CMR. Results Pooled analysis of 13 studies showed that PET und...
