At Least Six Philadelphia Officers Wounded in Shooting
PHILADELPHIA (AP) — At least one gunman opened fire on Philadelphia police Wednesday afternoon, wounding at least six officers in a standoff that extended into the evening. A shooter remained active as of 6 p.m. in the city's Nicetown neighborhood, Philadelphia police Sgt. Eric Gripp tweeted. All the officers' injuries were considered non-life-threatening, he said. Mass Shooting Drill Held at the University of Iowa

Houston City Council Considers Privatizing EMS

Portland Paramedics Assaulted on Call
PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Two paramedics were assaulted early Monday while on a call helping a woman with a medical issue, Portland police said. Robert McDonald, the Multnomah County Operations Manager for AMR, told KOIN 6 News the incident happened around 1:40 a.m. at a MAX stop at North Interstate and Prescott. The 2 women paramedics responded to a call to help a sick woman. When the paramedics got there, the patient was compliant and agreed to go to the hospital. One Dead in Wisconsin House Explosion
MANAWA, Wis. (AP) — Authorities in Wisconsin say a man was likely asleep when his home exploded, killing him. Waupaca County Sheriff Tim Wilz tells news outlets that the home was "totally obliterated" by the Sunday morning explosion. Lack of Money Keeps Kentucky County in Reduced ALS Service

Boston MedFlight Pilot Investigated for Allegedly Falling Asleep at Controls
BOSTON (CBS) – A MedFlight helicopter pilot is under investigation for allegedly falling asleep during a flight with a patient on-board. The FAA is investigating whether the Boston MedFlight pilot “fell asleep at the controls of a helicopter while conducting a flight to a Boston hospital from Martha’s Vineyard in Massachusetts on June 24.” Boston MedFlight says it investigated the incident in which a pilot overflew the designated helipad and determined that fatigue was a factor.
